20% Discount Offer Alert

I just called Captains Club to book shore excursions on an upcoming Celebrity cruise we are taking in Asia. I told the representative that I wished to take advantage of the recent 20% discount offer (for shore excursions and liquor packages) I recently received from Celebrity via email. Despite the fact that the email I received made absolutely no mention of this (nor did any link as part of the promotion make mention of this) I was told that the offer only applies to certain Caribbean sailings on select ships.

I was told in no uncertain terms that the promotional offer that I received was "an informational banner only" and that the terms and conditions of the offer are held by Celebrity representatives only and are not part of the ad.

BTW-the ad did not say "subject to further terms and conditions; please speak a Celebrity representative" or any such thing.

Interesting.

This is not uncommon with Celebrity that they send out blanket world wide messages and promotions that in fact are only available in certain sectors of the planet.

Is not this type sales practice what might be described as "Bait and Switch"? Yes, it gets our attention and encourages us to be interested and call. BUT, does it build long-term customer trust and confidence?

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

The flyer is very clear it's for Caribbean cruises only. I don't have access to the email right now but I'm pretty sure it was there too

The email I received is different than what you received. I used to review (and create) fine print for a living and I can assure you that what I received did not mention applicability to Caribbean sailing only. In fact the CC rep I spoke to admitted the email made no such reference.

The email I received with the banner did indicate it was for Caribbean sailings only in a certain time frame at that.

I wanted to use it on my next sailing when I saw the subject line, then reading through it I saw the restrictions... oh well, maybe something will pop up for it, if not no big deal...

bon voyage

The email I received about this same sale did not indicate Caribbean cruises in the email, but when I click one of the deals, such as excursions, it brings me to the excursions on the Caribbean cruise that I have booked.

That is the exact email that I received. When I clicked on the "Learn More" it stated the discounts were only available on a Caribbean cruise I have booked for 2017. The initial flyer is quite misleading IMO.
