Rare John&LaLa Posted November 16, 2016 #101 Share Posted November 16, 2016 (edited) Thanks John. That was what I was curious about. Is it a crew party cruise (nonrevenue) from Miami to Tampa or a revenue mini cruise? Or perhaps big wigs from Miami on a "meeting"? ;) If you look on the website it shows boarding in Europe (Malaga Spain) not until the 19th (this Saturday) and showing up in Miami on the 1st of December. Is this different from what you have? First revenue 7 night cruise out of Tampa is the 3rd. Definitely non revenue from Miami to Tampa. No idea why the debark in Miami. they could have picked up quite a few B2B for the first Western. When it was coming to PC originally, there was no debark in Miami and a great 4 day weekender for her first sail from PC. :( My TA site shows arriving on the 2nd in Miami as well. Day 1 Sat Nov 19 Malaga: EMBARK Depart 5:00 pm Day 2 Sun Nov 20 Cruising: CRUISING Day 3 Mon Nov 21 Lanzarote: DOCKED Arrive 10:00 am Depart 6:00 pm Day 4 Tue Nov 22 Gran Canaria: DOCKED Arrive 10:00 am Depart 6:00 pm Day 5 Wed Nov 23 Tenerife: DOCKED Arrive 8:00 am Depart 5:00 pm Day 6 Thu Nov 24 Cruising: CRUISING Day 7 Fri Nov 25 Cruising: CRUISING Day 8 Sat Nov 26 Cruising: CRUISING Day 9 Sun Nov 27 Cruising: CRUISING Day 10 Mon Nov 28 Cruising: CRUISING Day 11 Tue Nov 29 Cruising: CRUISING Day 12 Wed Nov 30 Cruising: CRUISING Day 13 Thu Dec 1 Nassau: DOCKED Arrive 8:00 am Depart 4:00 pm Day 14 Fri Dec 2 Miami: DEBARK Arrive 4:00 am I don't see debarking on the 1st on the Royal site. It just says Day 14 14 days from Nov 19 is Dec 2 Edited November 16, 2016 by John&LaLa

Can't be a revenue cruise as it would be illegal to take passengers between two different US ports without going to a distant foreign port. You will see the dates as 11/19-12/1. Guess it is different on your TA's site....strange indeed. Royal does do strange things on the website anyway. :D Edited November 16, 2016 by island lady

Clarea Posted November 16, 2016 #106 Share Posted November 16, 2016 Could they take employees or N/C guests? If so, would they still need customs? No problem for crewmembers. However, not sure about N/C guests. Have to wait for our Chief Engineer to weigh in.

Rare island lady Posted November 16, 2016 #108 Share Posted November 16, 2016 (edited) Could they take employees or N/C guests? If so, would they still need customs? We had one of the Miami big wigs on our B2B in Alaska on Radiance last August. We were the only revenue passengers that were doing the B2B in Vancouver, which we did with the man from Miami. The Hotel director (Robert) called him his boss. He had to go all through the customs walk off and walk back on procedures with us. It was very interesting. Nice guy too! :) Edited November 16, 2016 by island lady

Yes, I agree with you...it was the website that made it confusing when they listed 12/1 as arrival in Miami when you do the booking tab. Click on "Book Now" then look at the tab on the heading. ;) Once again the wonderful IT agents doing their best. :p Edited November 16, 2016 by island lady

Pipo Posted November 16, 2016 #111 Share Posted November 16, 2016 It's a matter popularity, competitiveness, and access to international markets. Carnival and NCL have Miami as their home port, where some of their newest ships are based, so RCI must offer a similar product to stay competitive. In the case of Ft. Lauderdale, the port authority and RCI did a big investment to accommodate the big ships, so that port will receive marketing preference in order to have a faster ROI. The cruise ship industry is also focused to foreigners, MIA (and FLL in a smaller scale) is well connected to others countries, especially Latin America, followed by Europe. And those airports are close to the cruise terminals, making them very convenient to international tourists. While MCO is relatively far from Port Canaveral. Being from the other side of the pond I've never really understood this But why do the U.S. possibly have a law that makes this illegal ?

It's an old law meant to protect US passenger lines, such as they are.
