Main Dinning hall for breakfast

Shorts/tees/ flip-flops are fine at breakfast and lunch in the dining room. Ever so much nicer than the buffet!

I like that you aren't searching for jam, or syrup or butter while your food is getting cold...all your condiments will be on the table!!

No they won't...butter, yes. Jam...sometimes. Syrup is brought by the waiter depending if what you order needs it. You also have to ask for ketchup, hot sauce. Please don't be mislead by CB's erroneous post. I agree that the MDR is lovely for breakfast, but once you find the "condiments" in the WJ surely you can remember where they are for the remainder of your cruise. Also, the staff in the WJ is very helpful in showing you where everything is located and they will also go and get it for you and bring it to you. Choose whatever breakfast venue works best for you. The MDR is not necessarily "ever so much nicer than the buffet".

Not true. Hats accepted many times for breakfast and lunch. Is this your rule??
As already posted (not by me, in msg #15) RCI's Dress Code says "baseball caps ... are not allowed in the main restaurants or specialty restaurants". Some items are listed as acceptable sometimes but not others; baseball hats were not on the sometimes acceptable list. Of course we are all aware of RCI's inconsistent (often nonexistent) enforcement. It doesn't really bother me whether baseball hats are worn or not; it does bother me that RCI has policies that are not enforced. RCI should either enforce their policies or get rid of them. My $0.02.

I am not a morning person ... and we only had breakfast in the main dining room on the last day of the cruise since room service was not available. Every other day we thoroughly enjoyed coffee and breakfast delivered to our room and enjoyed in privacy before venturing out. I especially enjoyed taking my coffee out on the balcony after eating. With that said, we did enjoyed our one breakfast in the MDR, and I can see that it could be a nice meal for those who really enjoy breakfast, but for us, room service was a better option.

These (MDR) issues are probably JUST because it was the last day of the cruise, but my dining partner was disappointed that Diet Coke was not available at breakfast, he does not drink tea or coffee. And the wait staff seemed a bit more abrupt and gruff than at any other time during the cruise. They weren't overtly rude, but almost so. I can just chalk it up to "it's the last day, get off the boat" but if that sort of thing bothers you ... the last day is probably not going to be the BEST in the MDR.

Anyway ... I did see men in baseball caps in the MDR at breakfast on this one occasion ... but I don't know what the 'norm' is or if there are any rules, etc.

(this is a bit off topic ... but ... just in case it is of interest to anyone reading the thread)

Just on the off chance that you don't already know ... you can place your breakfast order via TV remote the night before and schedule for the next morning. All breakfast items are free of charge (with the possible exception of alcoholic beverages which we did not want.)

A couple of suggestion - place separate orders per person if you are concerned about your food possibly being plated together and/or to ensure that if you order two of something you actually do get two full orders. My bacon arrived on his plate each morning ... but we don't mind sharing and/or rearranging items.

I saved the extra coffee creamers and jelly packets when left over just in case we came up short on other mornings (which we did.)

We liked the cheese plate that is available either on the dessert or snack menu, but it is not on the breakfast menu ... however we placed a completely separate order for it one morning as an addition to our breakfast.

(ETA: this was on RC Brilliance of the Seas)

I believe this is for Dinner and not Breakfast or Lunch. I take off my hat before I enter the dinning room for Lunch.

I have seen many hats during Breakfast and Lunch.....

I am a big fan of the cheese plate. Never thought of having it with breakfast. Great idea!

Once again you are incorrect in what you believe. As other have posted the enforcement at best is hit and miss on wearing of baseball caps in the MDR for breakfast and lunch. More on the miss. I was stopped one morning by the head waiter at the entrance to the MDR and quietly and politely was asked to remove my baseball cap. Are men allowed in the MDR for breakfast and lunch. Yes. But to say "this is for Dinner and not Breakfast or Lunch" swing and a miss. Hell I've even seen baseball caps in the MDR in the evening.

From RCI...Note: Swimsuits, robes, bare feet, tank tops, baseball caps and pool wear are not allowed in the main restaurants or specialty restaurants. T-shirts, shorts and flip-flops are acceptable for lunch.

DUH! I should have read my post before the window for editing expired. I meant to say "Are men allowed (overlooked) wearing baseball caps in the MDR for breakfast and lunch.Yes".

On my recent cruise on the Independence we had breakfast in the main dining room most days. We picked the restaurant for buffet breakfast rather than a la carte. We did not have trouble getting a table for two, and can then help ourselves to as much (or as little) of what we liked. It was great - much better than the Windjammer - which is where we've usually breakfasted in the past.

One morning we had the Royal Chocolate Breakfast in the a la carte dining room - fab! This was mentioned on the menu in the main dining room the evening before but I don't think it was well advertised

Does anyone know if Harmony has a MDR buffet and a MDR a la carte?

I believe the quoted dress code (#15) for MDR and Speciality Dinning is for Dinner only. How many wear slacks and collared shirt to breakfast/lunch.

The OP posted a question regarding breakfast only, MDR.

I know many on here roll their eyes at anyone not wearing a Tux for breakfast.

I've never read any dress code threads on CC that claimed that but I have read posts where someone is always crying about smokers smoking at the casino bar while not gambling. ;o)

And that would be me.... peoples hats are not a health determinant to you while smoking is... how can you even compare the two.

I never wear a hat to MDR but have seen them on all my cruises at lunch. Never ate breakfast in MDR so can't speak to it. I don't wear a hat at dinner or eating at home, so why would I do something different in public?

The dress codes quoted in #15 are for dinner.....

Say it's not so. I was only referencing the last sentence of your post #47. Nothing else. Please provide the link that backs up your statement. Thank you.
