Micahs Grandad Posted December 26, 2016 #26 Share Posted December 26, 2016 Haven't been on Vista yet, but we like to go for pizza around midnight and there is always a line. I feel so bad for the guy back there. They really do need more help. There's just not a whole lot of options that time of night unless you want to wait an hour or better for room service and then you're stuck in your room until it comes. We eat at 6pm and with all the running around can work up an appetite at that hour. [emoji3] When lido restaurants (other than deli) are closed is when we see the longesat lines. Go on just about any ship at say 4 pm and you will see a long wait for pizza or sandwich. Never understood they do not plan for this
Micahs Grandad Posted December 26, 2016 #27 Share Posted December 26, 2016 I take them with even less than that - especially food complaints. Someone told me today that the pizza onboard was disgusting. I think it's delicious. Others fall somewhere in between. See how that works. Not regretting booking the Vista. Just like I booked the Sunshine and never looked back. But then the Sensation is one of my favorite ships. We'll form our own opinion once we return. Thanks OP for the feedback. We are from NY and know good pizza. Pizza on the ship is ok but would never survive in Brooklyn.
firemanbobswife Posted December 26, 2016 #28 Share Posted December 26, 2016 LOL! I never assume on these boards anymore, although I do know you are very knowledgeable (and very patient) on this board. But you did have me thinking about it. Hahahahahaha! nybumpkin Posted December 27, 2016 #30 Share Posted December 27, 2016 As for seating, the promenade interior type seating along the casino's are gone, but they had more than adequate seating outdoors on Deck 5 and there was also the Ocean Plaza with lots of seating....I thought the crowds were dispersed well.We LOVED Ocean Plaza and the outdoor seating areas. One of our favorite sea day experiences was to get coffee from the coffee bar and then sit outside and play gin rummy. The deck 5 Lanai is very well done. I would have liked to try sitting outside the night we went to the steakhouse, but they weren't using it that night.

Hey I'm from NJ and that's pretty close. Was just in NY on Friday. So I too know good pizza. I never said it compared to Brooklyn pizza. You'll never hear me say that, because I have a specific affinity for it. But to me it is good.
Coach Pedro Posted December 27, 2016 Author #32 Share Posted December 27, 2016 And the It Staff apparently quit the day before or got fired. Norwegien has that sports pub with food 24/7 and they never made you wait. Carnival Pizza tastes pretty good, (not quite NY, but the ship takes you to nicer places). I think they need a consumer panel to help them design their ships in the future. Waiting 40 mins for a 30 min show isn't right. Like I said, the other ones we were on were great. Usually they put their best crew on the new "flagship" ships........
riclop Posted December 27, 2016 #33 Share Posted December 27, 2016 Just got off the Vista 17-24. Overall rating a C. Piano Bar was excellent Alchemy Bar was excellent Guys Burgers was the highlight of the meals...... Ship itself was very pretty, but poorly designed. 4000 passengers travelling: 2 guys making pizza (was awesome) but needed more capacity there, or a few more guys.:( Front desk (waited over an hour on the first day to correct the mess they made with our cards) need more than 3 or 4 ppl working guest services with 4000 passengers. Service in all the restaurants was sub par. If you give someone a baked potato at dinner, they shouldn't have to wait 15 mins for sour cream...... They must have gotten a good deal on Braised short ribs because they were served 3x in the dining room, and in the meat lasagna  It looks like they had a bad crew and things didn't work smoothly. I had a good time, but probably won't cruise Carnival again and def not Vista. Too many passengers and the amenities did not scale with the amount of cabins. This was our 6th or 7th cruise with Carnival.....:mad::mad: That is everyones complaint we may be cancelling our cruises on the Vista. BenjiRodney Posted December 27, 2016 #34 Share Posted December 27, 2016 Pizza line is long and you have to wait no matter what ship you are on. Just off the Magic and waited 15-20 minutes at times for Pizza.
nednrom Posted December 27, 2016 #35 Share Posted December 27, 2016 (edited) We will be boarding th Vista this coming Saturday. My mom and my sister got off the Dec 17-24 sailing and they had fun but they got aggravated and tired of waiting in lines. My sister said on the last sea day they went the Mongolian grill at 11:30 and ate around 2:00pm. There was a line to order and a line to get food. The pizza, dinner, shows ... and so on. She also stated that dinner service was hit or miss and the Lido buffet was a big cafeteria line so if you wanted salad vs hot meal everyone had to get in the same line which caused long lines. We will have fun because we always do on cruises and now that we know about this our expectations will be different. We have been on the Legend and the Conquest this year and waited 2-3 minutes to order not wait in line for 35-45 minutes. Maybe each ship is different. Rare crewsweeper Posted December 27, 2016 #36 Share Posted December 27, 2016 Something that might help on some nights....although I am usually in bed early and up early, the fridges in the room are truly fridges and keep things cold. You can always take some cold cuts, cheese, etc. down to your cabin for a late night snack. On my Med cruises, this came in handy for a quick snack before going out on port days. I also likes having cold water and other drinks in there. I brought some baggies, so I would take a plate of chocolate chip cookies and transfer to a biggie for fridge. Came in real handy for a chocolate attack...LOL Great ideas! We'll remember to pack baggies. I love the cheese plate in the MDR but usually too full to eat it. And cookies!!!! Yes cookies in the room work wonders. But I do agree with others that late night options are few and far between and the pizza service is slow any time of day, IMO. Especially if you want a pizza that hasn't been made.
beerman2 Posted December 27, 2016 #37 Share Posted December 27, 2016 Hopefully some of the bugs will be worked out by May 2018. Pizza has always been slow on Carnival. Agree they should add more workers in that location.
JaniceB Posted December 27, 2016 #38 Share Posted December 27, 2016 I like the idea of all the additional venues but not liking the fact that there is no real show room and the dining room is smaller. I hope they correct all these areas on the Vista 2. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on your cruise with us.
crusinpsychRN Posted December 27, 2016 #39 Share Posted December 27, 2016 I wonder if there are only 2 people making pizza b/c of the number of ovens. I don't like they put barely any sauce on the pizza.

Very often they have 1 guy running the whole place and periodically everything stops so he can make more and by the time he makes 5 or so the conveyor is empty. Coach Pedro Posted December 28, 2016 Author #41 Share Posted December 28, 2016 Very often they have 1 guy running the whole place and periodically everything stops so he can make more and by the time he makes 5 or so the conveyor is empty. even 2 guys really isn't enough to keep things moving... need a bigger pizzeria, as that's the only food you can get after a certain point, unless you have over an hour for room service. Pizza was pretty good tho, for a ship.
Rare jimbo5544 Posted December 28, 2016 #42 Share Posted December 28, 2016 My guess is they have 2 as it pretty much works except during a heavy rush (like at the end of a day in a port and everyone is back on and hungry. lele100 Posted December 29, 2016 #45 Share Posted December 29, 2016 (edited) Just goes to show people need to take all reviews with a grain of salt. My opinions are my own..and based on MY PERSONAL experience..someone else might have a completely different experience....that's why people should just try what they like and roll the dice! All in all, I NEVER met a cruise I didn't like. :D (Except maybe Majesty of the Seas, I think she turned me off of RCCL for life...but that's not fair either as it's their oldest and smallest in the fleet) OMG me too, I decided to give RCCL a try and went for a 3 day and ended up on Majesty of the Seas, I HATED IT so much that I told my husband I never want to go on Royal again. LOL and that was 7 years ago. I have been on the Carnival Imagination and Sensation those are old and small too but I didn't have a problem with them. I don't know what it was Edited December 29, 2016 by lele100
splintz Posted December 29, 2016 #46 Share Posted December 29, 2016 Norwegien has that sports pub with food 24/7 and they never made you wait. i cruised on the Norwegian Sun this past June on an Alaskan cruise. it was my first Norwegian cruise and this was one of the best features on the ship that i wish Carnival would also start. you could go to the sports bar i think up until 5 am and order off a set menu. you could get hot wings, hamburger, salads, soups, fries, and other bar type foods all for free. and the food was made to order so it was fresh. it was great. we spent a lot of time in this bar anyway because it was on a high deck with great views of the sea and to be able to order real food late at night for free was great!
