Do star class guests have to put their luggage out the night before we arrive back in port or does it go off the ship with the guest(s)?

We did in August of last year. We used luggage valet as well.

I would think if you were express walk off you'd have to carry your own. The Genie might help you with one bag, but after that I'd guess you are on your own. Seeing as you are from Florida I'm guessing you want to get to your car and home as fast as possible. I can only dream of that. :)

Thanks! Yes, we are about a 4 hour drive from Ft Lauderdale. If we were flying I would use the luggage valet. Living in Florida does give us a lot of cruising options, we will have a lot more options when we don't have 2 kids in college!

What surprised me on Our August 2016 sailing was that one of the Genies lead his family to the Champagne bar and handed them over to the concierge with the rest of us suite guest to be lead off the ship......this was one of the suite perks, this was not that carry your luggage off early thingie.

We had met in the suite lounge and were lead here waiting to be escorted off.

He was lead with us past all the other departing guest to Customs.

He was not happy that he was shuffled in with us, and as usual some families were pushing and shoving to be first.

Our flight was not till 11:45, so we waited for the line to be calmer.

I would think a genie would help Star guests get all the way to customs, unless it has changed since last August.

We were in a Crown Loft, we were not eligible for a genie, and maybe that is the arrrangement they have.

Just saying.

We were on OASIS in January, and waited in the suite lounge on deck 17 until our genie (Smitha) came and got us and escorted us past the line..off the ship and to the front of the customs line, where she handed us off to an agent. We used the luggage valet service. The whole STAR CLASS operation went so well another cruise was booked on HARMONY for next year. Very impressed!

We sailed on Ovation in November and our wonderful genie (Wendy) walked us off the ship through to customs. We had placed our bags outside the cabin the previous night.

We were thrilled with the Star Class Service. We ate at a Specialty restaurant each evening.

Just returned yesterday, we stayed in the Aquatheater Suite 9330 on the Allure. Our Genie was Susan, and she was amazing! The entire Star Class experience was top-notch and we will definitely do again.

First, embarkation was a breeze. Susan met us at the Star Class check-in promptly at 11:00 am as I requested via Loop with Susan the day before. She escorted us through check-in, which is separate from other guests. We then were taken to the Suite waiting area in the terminal. The wait here was approximately 15 minutes, just until the ship was cleared for boarding. A Genie came and escorted all the suite guests in a group up to the Suite lounge on Deck 17, where we were then greeted again by Susan. She walked us to our suite. The entire process from cab to cabin was 25 minutes!

The room was amazing and Susan had Champagne, and white wine chilling along with chocolate covered strawberries and fresh horde''vors. Susan prepared an agenda for the week and had it ready for us to review as soon as we got to our suite. We made a few minor adjustments and the week was set.

Dinner, Shows, Entertainment and Special Celebrations: Susan did everything for us! Nothing was booked in advance. Completely worry free. We utilized the email link and Loop ap prior to sailing to relay any special requests we had. We let the schedule up to Susan and she was able to change, cancel and adjust as needed throughout the week as plans changed.

We were celebrating an anniversary and birthdays this week and Susan arranged cakes and gifts to be delivered to our stateroom as well!

We ate at a specialty restaurant every night. We also did the Hibachi grill and Sabor for lunch. We had (4) teenage boys traveling with us, and they ate at Johnny Rockets every single day, sometimes twice a day. Not a single charge to your account.

The shows were a breeze as well, Susan had seats reserved for us. She scheduled the shows and times according our dinner reservations.

Flow Rider: Our teenage boys "lived" at the flowrider, never wanting to stop. The staff insisted they go in the star class line. On busy days, the staff had 3 surfers ride per 1 Star class rider. The last night is a FlowRide Best-of-the-Best competition. It was a lot of fun and Jake from our group won and was able to sign the board of champions!

Laundry and Press: This was a special treat. We sent laundry out twice and it was returned the same day. This amenity made unpacking at home a breeze.

Debarkation: During the cruise, in St. Thomas, we had a private boat charter that was scheduled to meet us as soon as the boat docked, and Susan our Genie was very helpful in organizing a quick disembarkation from the ship so we were not late meeting our driver. We planned this with Susan a week prior to the cruise. The last day of the cruise, we had a 10am flight and Susan greeted us in our cabin and escorted us off the ship. Total time from cabin to cab was 15minutes.

Please feel free to ask any specific questions about the room. We had (4) adults and (4) teens in the cabin. It was so spacious and the balcony is indescribable!! We spent the majority of our time on our balcony. We did not want to leave and explore the ship.

Hope you enjoy your cruise!

Thank you. We sail Sunday. I haven't received the invitation for the LOOP app, I emailed Susan today and asked her about it. Susan & I have exchanged 4 emails, 2 each. I sent her one on the March 1st clarifying a couple questions regarding our dinner & show requests. I haven't heard from her. Hopefully all is taken care of.

Are there special luggage tags for Star Class? Is the suite entry easy to find?

Who did you charter with in St Thomas? We have a snorkeling charter set up with Second Wind at 11.

I've had five Genies and the one constant is simply that the pre-cruise communication is not great. There are often many days between the initial email and the follow-up. You have to remember their focus is the guests on board and the upcoming guests are secondary. In some instances, nothing was confirmed beforehand - we just hoped. As they have so much pull on-board, there is nothing you really need to worry about. Given this, I've never had an instance where we didn't get a dinner that was requested, a show wasn't reserved, etc. Susan was fantastic and probably the second best Genie I've had of the five.

It sounds like I shouldn't be anxious about anything and assume it will all be taken care of. I would like to receive the link to the loop app though. Sometimes when I am roaming I can't download new apps - quirky, but it happened to me last week. There are 7 of us sailing, 5 of which are ages 15 - 21, I assume we all need the app.

What luggage tags did you use on your sailings with the genies?

What do you think is the appropriate tip pp in the specialty restaurants when sailing star class (or not)? I am not sure how the wait staff gets paid when things are prepaid. Do you tip the Coastal waiter? We don't get a receipt there, so it would have to be cash.

I have a goofy question about the laundry service. I am pretty picky about how my clothes are washed and dried. I use scented detergent and fabric softener, and hang dry many things in order to prevent shrinking. Can you give me your feedback on the laundry piece? I know most places such as hotels use scent free in order to decrease possible skin irritations, which for me means no yummy fresh scent smells:) I hate to waste their time and have them wash all of our clothes, to then turn around and rewash them all when we get home.

We were on Ovation.

Loop is not an app - it is a website so the link just takes you to a website to register. Once registered you access Loop by opening your web browser and going to the same address each time.

We never used Loop pre cruise. It was all email communication. Again on board we never used Loop as it was much easier to just use the phone which wasn't very often as usually our Genie had everything under control. Maybe each Genie has their own preference on which tool they wish you to use. Not sure how it works registering multiple users in Loop.

The "normal" yellow luggage tags we printed out on line were superseded with plum coloured "Star Class" tags emailed to us by our genie around 10 days prior to boarding.

Interesting. We never got Star Class luggage tags from our Genie (Reyno on Harmony). We just used the ones in the cruise docs. Maybe that explains why our luggage took a while to show up in our Suite.

My Genie, Susan, on the Allure told us to use the regular tags that you print online. The only thing that was really annoying was that there were 7 us, 5 between 15-21, and we had more luggage than we should. Instead of just handing it off to the porters at the curb, you have to take your luggage through all the porters and crowds to the suite entrance. From there we left it in the corner with other Star Class luggage and proceeded through security. Our luggage arrived in our suite about 3 hours later.

We just got back from the Allure' date=' we had an awesome time. Star Class was great, it will be difficult to sail, especially with the whole family not in it. Susan was our Genie, she is on vacation for 6 weeks now, then back on for 6 months. As far as the laundry goes, if you are picky, don't use it. It was good for some undies, etc, but other things not so much. For example, my husband's dress pants came back with the center crease, pressed out. Other things came back with extra creases, no scent was present. Everything is done in bulk with NO attention to detail.

We had a similar experience. This was the only part of the Star thing (this and the fact that we were left on our own to get Luggage Valet coordinated) that I thought did not work the way it was advertised. We had to schlep our luggage over to an area with a "blue" cart, which was, presumably, for Star Class and instead of having our luggage follow us up to our suite as we had heard it would be, our luggage came quite a while after we got to our suite. I don't think it was 3 hours but it was definitely not "soon".

Unfortunately, the luggage handoff thing at checkin is the very first experience that you have. If that doesn't go smoothly, you are starting off with a bad first impression. They definitely need to get this fixed (Port Everglades).

We were NOT mailed special luggage tags. We downloaded them from the "documents" e-mailed to us. However, the porter with our luggage on a cart, followed us throughout the embarkation. We parted ways only when it came time to go through the xray. He arrived at the room the same time we did. This was in Port Canaveral, on Oasis.

Nice. This is how it is advertised. I think we had an anomaly.

I think Port Canaveral has a better set-up. Their luggage & drop off is a lot more organized than at Port Everglades. Unless Port Everglades starts having the porters take the luggage for the star class guests, it won't change. The entrance for the star class is too far from the passenger drop off -- it actually isn't that far, the area is just FULL of people and luggage. You have to go through a maze with your party & luggage while everyone else just drops their luggage at the curb with the porters. RCCL should have dedicated porters at their "Star Class" banner on the curb. The banner is there, but it is surrounded by other guests & vans of people being dropped off who are not Star Class. There should at minimum be a RCCL representative at their banner to tell guests what to do next. I waited at the banner for a good 10 minutes with one of my sons and a ton of luggage while the rest of our party parked the cars, no one from RCCL said a word to me. I was standing by the banner & made eye contact with one woman a couple of times. When I thought the rest of our party would be there soon, I approached her to ask her what We should do with our luggage. When I was about 1 1/2 steps from her her phone rang. She answered it, turned around and walked about 10 steps from me. I followed her, when she hung up, she didn't turn around. After a few seconds, I went around her so I could see her face and told her we were Star Class, gave her our last name & room number and asked what to do. She just pointed and told me to take our luggage to the suite entrance. She didn't say anything else to me, I did here her call into her radio that we were on our way to the suite entrance. Port Everglades is chaotic, I would love to see the luggage drop off become more streamlined.
