.............why the need for one dollar bills in such a large number?....:confused:.....Oh I made the connection now!......I did notice they installed a "stripper pole" in the Viking lounge recently so "MAKE IT RAIN BABY!!!!"........but singles won't even get you a lap dance.......;):cool:

Bring from Canada we get all our bills before we cruise at the bank. But there has been a few times we needed to break a few bills. We would just go to the casino and use the bill breaker. I have never gone to guest services, always seems like a long time and I don't like wasting my time standing in line for change

I firmly believe in the Dave Ramsey envelope system. I have a spreadsheet of all anticipated expenses. Close to sail date, I put cash in labeled envelopes for each event. A taxi that cost $16 would have a $10, $5 and $1. But it would also have an extra $4 for tip. Room service has twenty $1 bills. And so forth.

 

Everything that we need cash for is like this. What can I say? I am anal. The envelope packet tends to get pretty bulky with a lot of $1 for different things. I just was trying to make it a little less bulky. A ton of $1's has worked before. And it will again.

 

We do the same thing!! We have envelopes and put cash in them, then bring the envelopes with us and put in the safe on the ship. We start saving early as it's easier for us.

I always take several cash envelopes that are well secured in my backpack and then put into the safe. I usually have 50 $1 bills and 25 to 30 $2 bills. We use the $2's onboard for drink tips when we order two drinks. They are different and the bartenders and wait staff typically remember you. I also take an assortment of $5's, $10's and $20's for extra tips, cabs, and island/port expenses. Our casino play money is always kept separately and is large bills. :D

Not exactly. Without the benefit of a bank willing to exchange bills at no cost, people have to be picky.

 

Good luck spending an older version of the $20 bills or ripped currency.

 

The money is only useful to them if they can spend it as well.

Most torn or a minor rip are accepted on the ship. However, many Islands will not accept a torn/ripped bill.

The change machine was broken on our last cruise on Rhapsody.

 

I find I can only count on myself to have plenty of 1.00 bills on hand. Wait

in line at GS to get change for a 20, and they tell me they can only give

me five, wait in a line in the smoky casino to get change, try the change machine

and find it broken? Have experienced it all...nope...don't need it.

 

Easy peasy for me to just go to a bank days in advance and get

a pack of 1.00 bills. ;)

Always get $50 in one dollar bills from the bank before I go. Another $50-$100 in five dollar bills. Do not want to wait in lines at GS or Casino to break bills or be caught flat on an island playing the "we don't have change" schtick when you are buying a small item but don't have small bills.

If you need some $1 then you can put a 10$ in and wait til you get down to 9$ then cash out. Casino has to give you some $1's then

 

:)

 

But yeah I am like you we bring a ton I know when we went to Las Vegas last year we had at least 50$ in 1's for drink tips at the casino

What was I thinking??

 

 

Clearly you're just crazy. Can't trust anybody I guess.

 

Though my suggestion was purely from an ease of carry point of view. Don't want your pocket bulging, too much.

I carry a zippered "cruise packet" on all cruises. The 1.00 bills go in there in a

cash envelope, then right into the safe. Just need to take out what we need as we

go. Pretty easy....and no bulgy purse there either. ;) :D
