My Reflection 1/7 Good, Not So Good and Bad

First, I have to say that the cruise was fantastic and I didn’t really see that Celebrity has gone downhill, as some have reported.

Good

My cabin, 1088, was in a great location and had everything I needed.

The service was wonderful. My Cabin Steward, Vendy, was outstanding. Our Waiter, Alexyus, and Assistant Waiter, Dirk, were fantastic. The rest of the crew was amazing; always a smile and a kind word when you passed them.

The food in the MDR was excellent and I didn’t notice any decline in the food in the MDR.

Bar service was very good. The Drink Person and Sommelier were on top of things in the MDR. I didn’t drink wine, but the Sommelier was there for the others right at the beginning of the meal. The service at the bars were very good, I don’t think I waited for more than one person. There were Drink Servers walking around the pool all the time.

Had a few massages and reflexology, which were all outstanding.

The internet was much, much faster and more reliable than my cruise last year.

The not so good

I really liked being able to have lunch in the Opus dining room upon embarkation (for Concierge Class passengers), but I thought, IMHO, the menu was too limited. They were showing the menu to folks before they went in and many turned around and left. The offered fish and lamb, I don’t eat either. I did go and had a soda and dessert and glad I did, as I met a really nice couple.

The buffet, the food just wasn’t hot in those serving pots. Also, they had the worst pasta station I’ve ever seen. Instead of warming the noodles in water and then putting the noodles and sauce in the pan and heating them together, they put the noodles into the pan, added some water and heated them and then put them in your bowl and poured lukewarm sauce from the pot over them. What you got was a lukewarm, watery pasta dish. I was disappointed, because Celebrity always use to have the bet pasta station.

The Bad

As usual, the chair hogs were out in full force, some saving loungers in both the sun and shade and some never came back to use them.

As always there were rude passengers; rushing into the elevator before everyone was out, coughing or sneezing without covering their mounts (and we wonder why we get sick), being rude to staff and other passengers and a a scooter driver who thought he owned the road and we needed to watch out for him rather than the other way around, but I will say a whole lot less rude folks then there were on my last Celebrity cruise.

Miscellaneous, for those that posted in other threads.

There was a stir fry station in the buffet at lunch every day and someone said, it was there in the evening as well.

They replaced the shampoo, conditioner, etc. when you used them, without having to ask.

They told a man who was in front of me going into the MDR for breakfast, that he had to go and change the sleeveless t-shirt or he would not be admitted to the restaurant.

The Lawn Club Grill (serving gourmet bugers) was opened for lunch on the sea days.

I do have the dalies, but am not posting them, but will answer any questions related to them or any other questions, if I can.

Thanks for your review. Do you recall the name(s) of the party band and house band? Were they any good?

Was their a guitarist on board?

And finally, do you recall who the Captain's Club host/hostess was?

Sorry I don't remember the Captain's Club hostess' name.

Here are the bands:

House band was Blind Vinyl - I was in the music industry, so I'm pretty critical, but I thought they were good and they did a range of music from the 50's to Lady GaGa.

Solo guitarist was Gordon

Here was some of the others:

SouthBeat Duo: Guitar and vocal

Duo Allure: Classical strings

Strolling Quartet: Jazz and more

At the pool: Stan the Pan Man

Thanks for the info...we sail in SIX weeks...

Do you know if the Lawn Club Grill was open for lunch on the day you had a mid-afternoon arrival in San Juan? I understand it is open primarily on sea days, but because this day is such a late arrival, I'm hoping I can get the super burger before I leave the ship that day.

Thanks!

Yes, it was open. Sorry, I didn't notice that when I put it in the review.

Thanks, "NLH Arizona," for your review.

Please feel free to say, "No," if you think that the task we wish to ask you to do would be too great:

Can you flip through the dailies and let us know on which night(s) -- and for how much time -- karaoke shows took place?

Much obliged.

Wow! Thanks so much, "NLH Arizona." You went "beyond the call of duty." You gave us even more than we asked!

We are very pleasantly surprised at the fact that shows were offered on four of seven nights.

I think the CC hostess was named Melissa. If not, it started with M. She was not very tall and had dark curly hair.

Hope this helps you.

Melissa Martinez was the Captain's Club Hostess on Reflection... I don't recall the duration of her contract but am quite certain that she is still aboard now...
