Photos from our February Mexican Riviera cruise:

The set starts off with photos from the cabin. #412-414 are headshots taken on the balcony. We did a whale watch on a zodiac in Puerto Vallarta, a hike to El Faro lighthouse in Mazatlan, then Ultimate Balcony Dinner (photos 508-518), and a whale watch on a 200-pax boat in Cabo San Lucas.

Enjoy!

Love your photos, must be nice to have whales breech by you. We've done a couple of whale watching tours and seen a back and fins:D I told my husband no more, besides, we live in a Northern BC, and they come up here in the summer. I like ve your wife's patterned blue dress, gorgeous

Thank you for asking these questions! We have had two PH before but I booked a Vista for a New England cruise on the Caribbean Princess in 2019. We have loved the aft cabins on Carnival so since many of the PH complaints were about the balcony size, I thought this might be fun to try.Booked C751. Should be on the correct side of the ship for the journey down from QC to NYC. Also, I didn’t mind the size of the PH suite, yes it was narrow but not in a way that took away from having a balcony. Sure was handy in Alaska on those days we were touring the glaciers, it was wonderful to get that hot coffee and danishes quickly from room service! Had to go on a wine tasting afterwards to counter effect the caffeine..... LOL....So hopefully C751 is a great place to be in New England!

Please forgive me for asking but what is the difference between a Penthouse and Vista suite? Thanks for your help.

On the Island L721 a Penthouse has a unique design and is one of only 2 like cabins fleet wide. 40feet of balcony, 3 sliding glass doors, side and aft views. If I was sailing Panama Canal I would think it’s a fabulous cabin.

If booking one of these cabins is the Exclusive Elite Lounge available to us and if so what is in there? would that include free drinks?

Is this up to date as to what is included.

Here's the list of suite amenities:

Expedited Embarkation Process-

Preferred Anytime Dining Reservations --

Personal Shore Excursion Reservations --

Complimentary Laundry and Dry Cleaning -- w

Canapes --

Exclusive Elite Lounge --

Dedicated Purser's Line --

Breakfast in Sabbatini's -- t

Luxury mattress, duvets, pillows, robes, slippers, towels, etc. --

DVD player and library --

Lotus Thermal Suite --

Flower Arrangement, Corsage and Boutonniere on Formal Night --

Complimentary Mini-Bar --

I love the elite longe, you don’t get free drinks, but there is a list of drinks that are discounted ($5 or$6). Each drink is assigned each night and paired with an appetizer, but you can get any of the drinks on any night for the discounted price. There are also always raw vegetables. I rarely eat in the buffet and veggies seem to be rationed on the dinner plates, so the elite lounge is where I get my daily veggies. It has never been crowded on the 7 cruises I’ve frequented the lounge. The wait staff there is usually exceptional.

I frequently request extra servings of vegetables when ordering. If I see a vegetable dish I want that goes with a different main course, I'll order it. Steamed broccoli seems to be always available.

The Island A726 is not a typical vista suite. We’ve been in a lot of suites, and that one is our all time favorite. I love the two sinks in the bathroom and how much larger the room and balcony are compared to other ship cabins in the same category. That suite has made the Island our favorite ship and we can’t wait to sail her again.

RSF Cruiser, thank you so much for that bit of information! This will be my first time on the Island and with all of the negativity surrounding the ship after the dry dock changes, I was a little bit concerned. It is my first time in a suite and my sweetheart's first time on a cruise ever. I so want it to go well so he will go on more cruises with me! I'm happy to get your good report on this room!

I think we are going to go with a Penthouse on Royal.......so what perks come with that?

Jimbo:)

Perks are:

Club Class Dining(great perk)

Bottles of Water in suite every day

Fresh Fruit basket on embarkation day

various snacks everyday of the cruise(like appitizers, sandwichs, choc covered strawberries, etc)

Free specialty dining on embarkation night (have been told you can switch days)(we ate in Crown Grill)

Breakfast everyday in preassigned restaurant. On Emerald it was Crown Grill; never had more than six people ever. Best kept perk. They will make whatever breakfast you want; even if its not on menu)

Free laundry pressing

Mini Bar Setup. You can swap the minibar for coffee cards; We swapped out mini bar for soft drinks. Never bought a soft drink all week; they kept restocking our frig

Elite lounge on embarkation at port. We walked up to check in; they have section for suite guests; once checked in escorted to elite lounge. Were the first pax onboard; took less than 15 min. Had the entire ship to ourselves for almost an hour.

Letter in room inviting you go meet the captain

Letter in room inviting you to concierge lounge

** there are more perks; once I remember them I can post. Hope this helps

You’re welcome! I was concerned about the negative Island reviews, but found I loved the ship. Horizon Court is inviting and well laid out. There’s no International Cafe in the atrium, but there is a place to get snacks - just not the same wide variety. A726, though, is fabulous. We had no problems with excessive vibrations. Aft cabins have more vibration and movement than mid-ship ones, but we didn’t find the Island to be more than any other aft cabin we’ve been in. Hope you and your sweetheart enjoys the cruise and cabin!!!

  • 4 years later...

We are looking at a trip on the Coral Princess and our choices are a Vista Suite (either Caribe or Dolphin deck aft but not at the back) or a Penthouse Suite (Dolphin deck mid ship).  The PH is almost twice the price as the Vista.  Any idea why when they are shown as the same size?  Thanks for any help.

Coral doesn't have Penthouse Suites, they are Premium Suites. According to my planner they are identical to the Vista Suites apart from location. You pay a serious premium for being mid-ships.
