Placeholders - How and Why?

I'd be more concerned with Royal cancelling those on you than Ellen booking the cabins.

Hey new emojis!:)

I still have my two Rhapsodys. 😉

One of them is a corner JS (8596) that came available right at final payment.

They both have $600 OBC from previous cancellations. 😁

I have 2 cabins each with OBC from a Rhapsody Redeploymemt as well. Royal was selling Rhapsody cruises out of NJ and then another departing from Venice one day later. I booked the NJ knowing it would be cancelled.

So nice that you've locked up a cabin that you'll never sail in. ;)

I didn't make up the rules of the game, I just play with the rules I am given.

Given that the prices frequently go up hundreds or even thousands of dollars between when the cruises become available to book and when I am able to lock in work and school schedules its worth it to me to put down deposits to hold options.

The OBC is more generous if you actually book a voyage. Plus you can move them around quite a bit.

Maybe you misunderstood my referencing the "old" FCC/NCC in my post. They gave a $100.00 OBC (at least that's what I usually got now it's $25.00), could move it as many times as I wished, could cancel it and get a full refund, the reduced deposit, and they never expired. In addition I didn't need to "place-hold" a cabin/cruise I wasn't going to take.

I understand that the NCC now aren't worth it or as good as they used to be...but that was my point ;)...No place-holding or tying up cabins necessary....now it is :(

Really no point talking about the past, but yes I understand they "used" to be more lucrative
