I don't think a 3 day cruise is long enough to establish warm relationships. The crew face turnover every few days on these sectors and I reckon that'd get very tiring. They don't have the chance to get to know you and then you are gone.

I agree, there are many aspects of cruising that can only truly be experienced on a longer cruise. That said, the short cruises do serve a purpose.

Yes, I agree that short cruises can be useful. I like to see what a ship is like - the standard of cabins, food. facilities etc. I know sometimes passengers are there for a party/booze cruise but as long as I stay out of the way of them, I have a good time.

I don't think MrGut is going to find that QM2 falls into the booze cruise category!

Correct and the QM2 has plenty of quiet areas to sit and read without having to mix with any of the party goers, although I doubt the QM2 short cruises attract too many of those booze cruisers anyway.

QM@ has the largest passenger space ratio of any cruise ship/ocean liner. 54 I think.

I reckon one would need 3 or 4 days to explore the QM2, so 16 nights will do us as a 'Cunard Sampler.'

We have a 35 nighter next year, B2B on Adonia, which is about the size of a QM2 tender, :D We will know that one inside out, 700 pax and 300 crew.

Anyway, back to the subject, the weather to Tasmania looks ok. I don't think QM2 will be put to the test of dealing with Force 12 gales and 50 foot seas as she encounters some times in ye olde North Atlantic, her regular run.

MrGut

I am late to the bon voyage party, but I hope you and the family have a great cruise. If there is a cruise god out there, you will be rewarded for all your help to others with A) big winnings in casino B) a free world cruise or C) an upgrade to the Penthouse Suite.

Hope you get them all!!

Thanks for all your help and have a great cruise!

Reminds me, did anyone warn Gut about the Pol Acker? Could be a nasty shock for him.

Thanks for the warning about the Pol Acker. 2 quid in the Brit supermarket, Sainsburys, so Cunard pays a quid. I might clean my teeth with it then. So no Moet or Bollinger suppled for us in Steerage? Have to gatecrash Queens Grill.

I saw the YouTube video of the sheltered balcony cabins, I can fit our 3 litre chateau cardboard cask of Hardys Stamp Sauv Blanc in the cabin fridge, that is good enough.

Half bottle too, I would spill that much opening it.

Well I hope Uncle Les checks this thread as the general view of the esteemed bubbly is that it is good for cleaning out sinks. :D

Thank you, noted. Can also always pour it over the side and feed the fishies at Circular Quay.:*
