I guess I wont get any cuz AARP was gone in minutes and it seems like Verizon is the only one that have many. Can I use a friends phone number to get it?

Do you have a credit card with Citibank? If so you might be able to use their easydeals site which always seems to have the CCL gift cards.

I've bought them through Verizon before, but its easy to miss them and find they are sold out. Now, usually I buy them from Kroger where I get 2x or 4x the fuel reward points. The amount of savings depends on how many I buy and how much gas I need to purchase. If I buy a $100 gift card on a 4x weekend I get $0.40 off per gallon of gas. I'll take my truck and car up to the station and buy about 30 gallons. That equates to a $12 savings or a total of 12%. They are almost always available at the store, and I can buy $50-100 each week while I'm shopping and it doesn't feel like it hurts my wallet as much ;p

Can an experienced user of these cards give a brief recap of what you're buying and how you use it for, or on, your cruise.

You buy a physical gift card which is the only part I don't like. I'd much rather have them emailed but that's me. Anyway you're buying a discounted gift card. You can use it to pay for your cruise, alcohol, gratuities, excursions, ANYTHING that Carnival sells basically.

There are certain businesses that offer gift cards at a discounted rate for their customers. Verizon wireless is a big one. You can purchase the card for 10% less than the face value of the card. So you get $100 for $90. I just purchased $500 in cards yesterday for $450. I will use the cards to pay for mine and my daughter's drink packages before we cruise in April. The total cost of the packages is about $480. So I've saved $30 on the packages and will have another $20 to apply next time. You can also use them to pay for your cruise which at 10% can equal huge savings!

Not to mention, now you can use it for fun shop purchases in advance as well as for paying for Cheers. With the typical 10% discount for gift cards...turns the price of cheers to $44.95/day (before gratuity) or almost equal to 4 Alchemy Bar coctails

carnival cash is good for if you are saving for onboard spending but dont necessarily want to carry a lot of cash around. You can buy them in advance and have it on your sail and sign card when u board. no need to visit guest services, it will already be there on your account when you board.

I just used several of these in 2 different ways. Bought 2 $500 ones & used as a payment on our Vista cruise. For each $500 I paid $450.

Do this for each payment & it adds up.

On my October cruise with friends I bought 2 & put them on my account at customer service after boarding. I then played in the casino, did a spa treatment, bought some spa items & had a few drinks, all charged to my account. Easy $100 savings.

I purchase the gift cards from AARP at 10% off face value. There is usually a small shipping fee. I believe it was $1.18 on 2 $500 GC I purchased recently.

I paid my entire cruise (except for downpayment) for 2 cabins with gift cards and also purchased extra GC to put towards onboard expenses saving almost $850. If you plan ahead you could also use gift cards to pay your down payment.

Carnival recently announced that you could use gift cards to make Fun Shop purchases.

I'm frustrated with AARP. I've registered before and it's telling me wrong PW. They'll send me email but it expires in 3 hours. I won't be home to get it in 3 hours.....have to start over then.

They aren't available right now so nothing to worry about. Start the process again when you get home

Thanks to everyone on this site for telling us about Carnival GC. Decided to check my credit union for gift cards. We're members of Navy Federal CU and had more than enough points to get 2 $100 Carnival gc without having to pay for them. We use our cc for most everything, but spend no more than we can pay when the bill comes. Never knew about the Carnival gift card before. We plan to use our to pay our mandatory gratitude for sure. So check your bank or credit union.

Our grocery store sells gift cards which earn points, on certain weekends they offer 4X points which are good to redeem money off gas. When planning a cruise I will buy a $500 gift card and get 2,000 points which will let me fill my tank 2 times for $1.00 a gallon discount. I use my American Express Delta card and get airline miles. I then use the money I had for the cruise to pay off the credit card.

I'm with you on the miles. My Entire household goes on the Cap One Venture card for the travel miles then paid off monthly. I generally get enough points to pay for at least one cruise each year!
