shark5 Posted February 28, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2017 I usually give the bartenders and the steward that brings my morning coffee and Danish, an additional cash tip. On my last cruise (many years ago), I gave out 2 dollar bills. Now I'm considering gold presidential dollars.. any comments? sharkman

Keep it simple for the workers to use in ports.
BLACKBURNROVERS Posted February 28, 2017 #3 Share Posted February 28, 2017 It would really depend on where you are cruising. In Europe, I would offer Euros.

They would not appreciate collectibles. They want plain cash that they can uses when they are ashore. 2 dollar Villanova use to Ben considered bad luck. I bring $100 in dollar bills, along with $5 and $10 bills for other things. That will more than cover incidental tips - things above and beyond our already pre-paid service charges and gratuities. cygnets Posted February 28, 2017 #6 Share Posted February 28, 2017 We tried the gold dollars on a cruise out of NOLA thinking it easier for our kids to carry and not lose. They were not well received and I think a lot of staff did not reaize they were US currency.
roger001 Posted February 28, 2017 #7 Share Posted February 28, 2017 Many businesses will refuse a $2 bill, thinking it is only novelty money. Give them $1s. They need money to spend, not collect.
