Question about the OBC.

I have the classic bev package, and I understand that a tip will be added to my ship account. Can OBC be used to pay for this?

There will be no tip added for the beverage package beverages. If you were buying drinks individually, there would be a 18% tip added to each purchase.

Unless you have received them as a perk or paid them in advance, you will also be charged a daily gratuity for restaurant and stateroom services, but that is separate from the bar purchases. Those tips go to other service personnel like your room steward, housekeeping, and waitstaff. You can use OBC to pay for this. It's posted as a daily charge to your onboard account, and whatever OBC you have will offset whatever charges you have.

Last fall we had over $1200 in OBC (from X and from our online TA). We already had all four perks and no X excursions and we aren't spa people. We took out cash from guest relations for additional tips at the end. We let some go back to our credit card. Some (maybe $100) went to the casino and turned into $500. And..... on the 'black Friday' sale on board I got a great Michael Kors black bag with chain strap that looks just like a Chanel bag, and I've carried it nearly every day since November.

Can it be used in the casino? I'm guessing it can not, but I don't know.

You can use it to get promotional chips or slot credits to play, yes. You keep your winnings, but you must play the value of the promotional chips/slot credits. You cannot just go to the casino and say "give me $300 cash." That was a loophole that they closed last year.

Does that mean that I bet $10 in promotional chips and if I win a 1:1 bet they trade me $20 in real chips? Or do they pay $10 real chips and leave the promo where it lies?

When you win an even money bet, you get your promo chip back along with a corresponding real chip; when you lose, of course your promo chip disappears.

If "leave the promo where it lies" was asking must the promo chip continue to be used for the same identical bet, the answer is no. You can pick it up and use it for another bet anywhere in the casino.
