Rare LHT28 Posted March 21, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2017 depends on the cruise line Some will allow you to use it for the gratuities you can usually use it for anything you purchase on the ship
Nitemare Posted March 21, 2017 #3 Share Posted March 21, 2017 LHT is right, it varies by cruiseline. For the best answer repost your question on the board here dedicated to your cruiseline.
SadieN Posted March 21, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 21, 2017 Looks like your sailing on the Prinsendam? The Holland America board will be able to answer your questions. On Board Credits can only be spent onboard, not for anything purchased ahead of time.
Bankshot Posted March 22, 2017 #5 Share Posted March 22, 2017 On most ships you can also use your credits in the casino. They will charge a 5% fee.
NantahalaCruiser Posted March 23, 2017 #6 Share Posted March 23, 2017 On most ships you can also use your credits in the casino. They will charge a 5% fee. Depends on the cruise line. Celebrity no longer charges 5%; they instead issue promo chips that cannot be cashed in - must be played in the casino until lost.
Rare Hlitner Posted March 23, 2017 #7 Share Posted March 23, 2017 It looks like you are cruising HAL? If so, you have no problem. The On Board Credit will simply be added to your onboard account (this sometimes does not happen until the 2nd or 3rd day of the cruise) and it simply offsets any charges to your onboard account (including the daily gratuities). My advice, if on HAL, is around day 3 you stop at the Guest Services desk (when they are not busy) and just ask for a your "statement." They will print out your onboard account and you should see that credit. If it is not showing on your account, ask why? And make sure you take along any paperwork or e-mail print outs to support your on board credit. On our many cruises (including HAL) we have had some instances where the credit information was never forwarded to the ship. In such cases it is really helpful to have some kind of print out to show the Guest Services folks....who will then make the proper inquiries and add the credit to your account.
