RedRover96 Posted April 7, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2017 I was just reading ClevelandCruisin review (good review thankyou!) of the Pearl and they showed a picture of the Bridge viewing windows onDeck 11. We were on the Sun a coupleyears ago and don’t remember an opportunity like that. Is this unique to the Pearl or does otherNCL ships have this? We did a tour on Carnivalyears ago and had an opportunity to tour the bridge, (with an armed escort) andreally enjoyed it, this seems like the next best thing! I've cruised on the Sun twice and it does not have the bridge viewing window. I think only the Jewel class ships -- Jewel, Pearl, Jade, Gem -- have it. shark with a laser Posted April 7, 2017 #3 Share Posted April 7, 2017 Spirit also has it. There's a spiral staircase from the observation lounge that goes down to a room with windows to the bridge. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

RedRover96 Posted April 7, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted April 7, 2017 OK, thanks! I believe NCL has a Behind the Scenes Tour like Carnival? We really enjoyed our tour 5 years ago on Carnival Splendor. To be honest figure whether it's NCL or Carnival about all the "scenes" that happen beyond the normal passengers view are pretty much typical. Has anyone done both the NCL & Carnival tours and can recommend that they are different enough to try the NCL????
hawkeyetlse Posted April 7, 2017 #8 Share Posted April 7, 2017 Unless you are really interested in specific details, cruise ships are all pretty similar behind the scenes, as you suspected. And I hear they no longer take you to the bridge on NCL's tours.

I think they all have what some people call the I-95 corridor in the crew area that runs the complete length of the ship. We did enjoy the tour on the Splendor as she just back from her overhaul after the fire off Mexico. Interesting seeing the engine control room! Figured at the time she was one of the safest ships at the time :)
dexddd Posted April 7, 2017 #11 Share Posted April 7, 2017 For those ships that do have a bridge viewing room they may no longer want you to take pictures of the room itself either. That is how it was on the Gem and they weren't talking about the bridge (per the signs).

We were on the Jewel in Jan/Feb, and there were no restrictions on photographing the bridge from the bridge viewing room or on photographing the viewing room itself.
