"LIVE" - Aloha, Radiance of the Seas May 5, 2017 Honolulu to Vancouver

Interesting. It already has the totem pole up. I thought they'd add that when it docked in Vancouver to start the Alaska season.

And I thought it was always there. [emoji3]

Went to the theater to watch the singers and dancers perform their City of Dreams production.

Well we got to see lava flow from the Kilauea volcano and it was spectacular. Trying to take a picture of it from a moving ship at night from long distance. Now that is a different story. Sorry this is the best I got.

We took the first southbound from Alaska last year, and I could swear they said that it was put up to start the Alaska season and taken down on the last Alaska cruise each year ... in fact, we were so sure of it, we were thinking when we see the boat in VAN in just over a week for the northbound, they'd be putting it up on our cruise.

Now I'm curious and off to look at Radiance pics from when she was in Australia if the totem was up then, too!

It is always there, it is a permanent structure. We had it all the way from Vancouver to Sydney in 2011. :)

Great shots of the lava flow, I'm glad it was cooperating last night! BTW, someone posted a nautical map showing Explorer not too far from you last night, on its way to Kona today. I wonder if it sailed by the lava flow, as well? They clear Immigration in Kona today, should be "interesting."

Hi,

Can you tell me what the beds are like? I have heard rock hard. We are on an 18 day to Australia this year. Love your reviews!

I guess it depends on what type of mattress you normally use. For me the ones here are firm but not uncomfortable.

Yeah, it's always been there. It was carved by Tlingit artist Nathan Jackson of Ketchikan and installed as part of Radiance's art package. This ship was always intended for the Alaska market. :)

I thought so. Thanks for the update. [emoji3]

With the weather being a bit wet this morning we decided to just make a run over on the Wal-Mart shuttle for calendars and chocolate covered macadamia then relax on board.
