Clarea Posted May 13, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 13, 2017 With regard to booking shows, you do this through your Cruise Planner on Royal's website. Shows open for reservations at seemingly random times, so it's best to check periodically. There is no cost to booking shows, and having a reservation only gets you in the venue early, it does not reserve a specific seat.

Boarding Room keys On board account Booking shows Boarding typically starts very early - usually by 11:15 and often earlier. You go through security. You are seated and they come around with iPads to check you in. If boarding has started, they allow you to just walk on the ship. Seapass cards are at your room - one outside and others inside. You use your Setsail form for any charges you make before you get your Seapass card when the rooms open at 1:30.
familycruzer Posted May 13, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted May 13, 2017 So you show your paperwork printed from home. You already downloaded a picture. You get scanned and board. Your cards are at your cabin. Your wrist bands are in your cabin too? Do they work the same as the cards? On board spending, room key and on and off the ship? Thank you for this info, I didn't realize the boarding procedure was different for Anthem. What time would you recommend arriving at the port? We are coming in a day early so we can get there as early as needed. Also, do they board the suites and Pinnacles first and then work their way down the C&A loyalty levels? Thanks in advance. vickila Posted May 13, 2017 #7 Share Posted May 13, 2017 Wrist bands are purchased for $5 each at Guest Services. Good to get in room, casino slot, purchase drinks or shops. Still need card to get on/off ship. Just a novelty. Make all specialty reservations early online. Good deals online. Can be changed once onboard and your better price holds. Book 3 shows.."Rock", "Gift" and "Spectre". Definitely book "North Star, IFly". Family may enjoy Escape Room...(a 1 hour group of 12 puzzle in a locked room). Book online or go directly on ship to Seaplex area desk to book. It's challenging, age 16 up. For all. Not easy. Dinner...fixed either 6 pm or 8:30 pm, always same table, same diningroom OR Anytime. Personally know fixed 6 pm is best suited to do all. Can juggle specialty on nights when not much going on......being that there are 3 big shows, some nights no main entertainment, but plenty around the ship. READ. Reserve specialties....Wonderland...a flavor, presentation unique experience. Let your waiter do his thing. Steakhouse...good but slow service at times Jaimie's...wonderful ...order planks...not your normal Italian. Izumi...try it for lunch, Michael's another good lunch special. Above all pricey..use online specials. Recommend Solarium Bistro for quick breakfast, lunch....both limited buffet style. For dinner it is free but reservations only. You choose entree, served. Salad, appetizer bar buffet. Nice change. Sent from my iPad using Forums
nelblu Posted May 13, 2017 #8 Share Posted May 13, 2017 Wrist bands still cannot be used for on and off the ship. I believe there's a fee of $5 per WOW band. Also, from my past ignorance on the Quantum, when you make any entertainment reservations make sure that the transaction is totally completed. It may seem that they will be asking for a credit card, but it isn't. Also, make sure that you get confirm of all and any reserves via e-mail from RCL. This will be your proof. In addition, be sure that you're at the event at least 15 minutes prior to schedule time (earlier if you want a decent seat in the main theatre), otherwise they will let in any Pax without reserves. SbbquilterUT Posted May 13, 2017 #10 Share Posted May 13, 2017 They rolled out a new larger puzzle activity in Two70 last week - teams are given packets of information to solve a mystery. New information every 5 minutes. This way they negate the issue of how few people could access the Puzzle room. Check in was very easy with plenty of kiosks. We really enjoyed the music and dancing each evening in the Music Hall. Enjoy!

beachbuzzard Posted May 13, 2017 #12 Share Posted May 13, 2017 If you want a WOW band, they were selling them on Sail Away day in Boleros. We actually had them from a previous cruise on Anthem so they exchanged them (you can keep the same one's if Muster Station is the same, otherwise you have to exchange) - but the guy told me they may be stopping exchanges. I like the WOW band but not sure it's worth $5 each cruise. So they will probably slowly go away. If you don't get all the shows or activities you want booked prior to boarding, you can go to the Theater on Deck 4 on Sail Away Day and they have activities people doing bookings there. Things that require booking (besides specialty dining) - SHOWS: We Will Rock You and Spectra's Cabaret. ACTIVITIES: Northstar, IFly and the Escape Room. You do not need advance booking for all of the other shows or for the rock climbing wall, bumper cars or wave-rider.
SbbquilterUT Posted May 13, 2017 #13 Share Posted May 13, 2017 Yes - in the Music Hall and as usual ranged from quite good to not so good. There was a final show of the karaoke in Two70 late in the week.

Irish13 Posted May 13, 2017 #15 Share Posted May 13, 2017 Like everyone is saying make sure you book everything because if you don't you won't be able to do it.. Therr are so many people on board and you could try to do stand by but I saw a lot of people that wasted their time standing in line only to still be turned away. And the other thing is be early for your reservation if you come late there is a good chance your spot will be given away. The dining room was not a good experience for us I felt like it was completely disorganized unfortunately and we found ourselves paying to eat at specialty restaurants or just eating at the buffet. I will tell you we loved the pizza place who doesn't love pizza right and they will make custom pizzas for you just ask. If you have any other questions just ask .. We are looking to book Anthem again in November just waiting for the prices to drop some .. My kids cried when we got off the ship they loved it so much ! Is there a thread that will teach me the basics of Anthem of the Seas? My 21 year old son picked this ship and it has a few more bells and whistles that I am used to. We are just off of 5-nights to Bermuda and our MDR experience was the best we've had in years. It was also the first time in a while we didn't have My Time and I think that helped - we were downstairs in Grande and had a late seating. But the food was good (I'll give it a solid B) and our service was amazing (easily an A). Could be we hit a high performing staff combo, but it was a refreshing change of pace for us. Five nights and ate ALL five in the MDR?? Unheard of!
brookmill18 Posted May 14, 2017 #17 Share Posted May 14, 2017 Did anyone do the trapeze class? It is the main thing DD wants to do but looks like they only do it 2-3 times a cruise and for very limited times. Do you think lining up 1 hour early is enough? Thanks! Biker19 Posted May 14, 2017 #18 Share Posted May 14, 2017 ^ it probably depends on the demographic of the cruise (more demand with younger crowd) and how many times they offer it. You may want to talk to the staff at the Seaplex once onboard - they should know.

jsswish Posted May 18, 2017 #23 Share Posted May 18, 2017 Don't think I've seen this mentioned, if you have an old Seapass card or any card you won't miss of that size bring it. Unless things have changed, you put your Seapass card in a slot just inside your cabin door to bring the climate control to life. And maybe some power outlets or lights, I don't remember. So if you want your room nice and cool for when you get back, have a card you can keep in that slot. We didn't have much of a problem on our trip since I had read about this before, but we did check it out a couple times, and the room did warm up and get a tad stuffy when we were out for a few hours without having that card inserted.
