Rare MicCanberra Posted June 17, 2017 #76 Share Posted June 17, 2017 Just checked on Marine Traffic AIS and they have begun the transit...local time 5 am ,so they will have a daylight transit. You would not want to go all that way and then go through at night....;) You can see the convoy lining up behind them. Cheers, I have a friend who ended up going through at night due to a change in itinerary and he was very very disappointed.
Rare MicCanberra Posted June 17, 2017 #77 Share Posted June 17, 2017 Thanks David. I hope they have nice weather. I just finished reading a World Cruise blog on P&O's Aurora which had thick fog at the beginning of their transit. That would be almost as bad as at night. From winter escapes blog..... http://winterescape2017.blogspot.co.nz/ We arrived into Venice the day before our scheduled stop. This was due to a medical emergency on board which necessitated the Captain turning back to the closest land which was Corfu and required two hours of cruising. This was necessary so the helicopter could be sent out to airlift the patient to a hospital. This effectively put us a good 4 hours behind schedule but hopefully saved someone's life. The reports from the Captain have said the patient is stable. We arrived into Venice in the evening around 6.30pm. We will now have two nights and two full days to explore this beautiful city.
