Gloworm2 Posted June 3, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2017 My cabin mate is backing out. I will pay the full 2 person rate for the room. Will I get double the crown and anchor points for my cruise? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Jana Posted June 3, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 3, 2017 Yes! And the taxes will be refunded. .
Gloworm2 Posted June 3, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted June 3, 2017 Awesome! I have been told not to let RCI know of the solo thing until just before travel. That way they don't try and increase the cabin rate. Is that really a concern? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
DrDani226 Posted June 3, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 3, 2017 Hmmm...I'm not sure you would get the double points if the 2nd person was a no show. I think it's only if you are paying the solo rate. Someone else will know for sure though. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Gloworm2 Posted June 3, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted June 3, 2017 If I'm paying for 2 people I am paying a "solo" rate Sent from my iPhone using Forums
DrDani226 Posted June 3, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 3, 2017 You may be correct. I know it's the same amount of money, but in one scenario you are paying for 2 people to cruise, but one doesn't show. In the other, you are paying the (double) solo rate for one person to cruise. Like I said, I may be wrong. Someone else will either be able to confirm or deny. Rare broberts Posted June 3, 2017 #7 Share Posted June 3, 2017 If I'm paying for 2 people I am paying a "solo" rateSent from my iPhone using Forums You may be paying the solo "amount" but not necessarily the solo "rate". Rates for single occupancy are not necessarily twice the double occupancy rate.
besberry Posted June 3, 2017 #8 Share Posted June 3, 2017 If I'm paying for 2 people I am paying a "solo" rate Sent from my iPhone using Forums Not necessarily! I was looking for a cruise. The price for a solo cruiser was wayyy more than the price for two people.

Is that really a concern? Just to be safe, I would not tell them at all. Just have the other guest be a no show.
DHADEN Posted June 3, 2017 #10 Share Posted June 3, 2017 Why don't you CALL ROYAL CARIBBEAN and ASK???
Gloworm2 Posted June 3, 2017 Author #11 Share Posted June 3, 2017 Besberry that's what I'm worried about. I hear a solo can actually pay more than the double rate. But I want my double points! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Gloworm2 Posted June 3, 2017 Author #12 Share Posted June 3, 2017 I was told that calling them to ask will increase my rate. Come on Dhaden. That's what this forum is for. Getting some type of suggestions without calling the company. We know what the cruise lines want. Any way to get more $ Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Clarea Posted June 3, 2017 #13 Share Posted June 3, 2017 Besberry that's what I'm worried about. I hear a solo can actually pay more than the double rate. But I want my double points! I have a friend who was in a similar situation. The second guest backed out of the cruise after full penalty date. He did not notify RC in advance, just had the second guest be a no show, and got the extra C&A points.
DHADEN Posted June 3, 2017 #14 Share Posted June 3, 2017 I was told that calling them to ask will increase my rate. Come on Dhaden. That's what this forum is for. Getting some type of suggestions without calling the company. We know what the cruise lines want. Any way to get more $ ASKING them a question will NOT increase your rate! The reason booking a solo is MORE is because of what "special" they are running. If there is 50% off the "Second Guest" then it is cheaper to book 2 people. We had the same thing with my sister sailing solo; we CALLED RCI and talked to them and they booked her solo at the REDUCED PRICE.

CGinMTL Posted June 3, 2017 #16 Share Posted June 3, 2017 I don't think you get double points if there is a 2nd name on the booking. I have always wondered if you get your points if you are no show Sent from my SM-T580 using Forums mobile app
Seashoregal Posted June 3, 2017 #17 Share Posted June 3, 2017 Don't know if this helps you, but a friend had to pay full price for a cabin on Royal Carribean, but now another person may join him. We called and were told the second person in the cabin would pay about $110 more. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

scorpluvsdolphins Posted June 3, 2017 #19 Share Posted June 3, 2017 I get double points all the time. I can't get my 150% supplement price during certain times. I put a name in there, person is a no show, I get the taxes back for the second person AND I get double points, triple if in a JS. Once in awhile, I do have to call for my double points. This year, I booked a NYE cruise and put a name in. Since I have to pay for Two people, I called Club Royale. I was happy to get a JS for 2 people for $2073. I will get $85.78 taxes back for the second person. If someone can go, great, if not, no problem. It is only a 5 night cruise, but I will get 15 points. I think of it as $/pts. So....... Less than $133 per point. The Enchantment GS (9) points is way more..... $200 per point. This cruise, Club Royale couldn't beat my single supplement rate. I wish they would change the rules for Club Royale and the single supplement. Royal would love to have more solo D+ with over 350 points gambling in the casino. There are some, but not many. mommykim Posted June 4, 2017 #25 Share Posted June 4, 2017 But the person that does show up gets double points from what I've read? This is 100% correct. Just have the second person no show and you'll get the port charges refunded in about a week. You will indeed get the double points but you might have to call and ask for the extra points. They're not very accurate on giving the extra points even when you book solo and sail solo.
