nchikk Posted June 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 23, 2017 With so much negativity out there, I hope no one minds a little positivity in our lives. So let's hear from you.
h_blond2 Posted June 23, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 23, 2017 I haven't seen anything that really stands out, but for all the rude passengers, I find that there are just as many friendly and respectful passengers. gwsster Posted June 23, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 23, 2017 At a bar the gentleman in front of me bought his drink and mine (2)....He suggested I pay for the person behind me and I did, would have cost me the same either way. The lady behind me then paid for the person behind her since I paid for hers....I don't know how long this went on, but made my day.
eileenfa Posted June 23, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 23, 2017 It wasn't a passenger but a cruise member. They got a wheelchair for me right away when they saw I was having issues walking. It was sweet- hadn't seen it before. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
tonit964 Posted June 23, 2017 #5 Share Posted June 23, 2017 We were on the Spirit years ago and sitting in the area outside of the dance club. The security guy at the door checking ID's was being hassled by some guy that I guess couldn't get in. My DH is trained in martial arts, you can lay someone out without actually hurting them. He was watching carefully and this guy was just getting more and more angry and the security guy was just standing there, not sure if he called for more security or not. My DH thought the guy was going to start punching him so he went over and said something to the guy and the situation de-escalated. My DH is very quiet and low key so when I asked him what happened, he just told me he wasn't going to let the guy start pounding on the security guy, so he told the guy to leave him alone. I'm sure he said more than that.:D
Razor_Poke Posted June 23, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 23, 2017 Met an elderly lady on the Dream last year. She was so friendly with everyone. We were needing a seat near the coffee shop and she offered us the 2 open seats at her table. Insisted that I try some of the cake she was eating from the coffee shop. I'm weird about eating / drinking after people but I grabbed a clean fork and obliged. When neither of us could finish, she insisted I take it back to my room for later. Every time we saw her, she was cutting up with the crew and dancing if music could be heard. She said she cruised often and alone -- kind of sad but not really -- she lit up any room she walked into. cvpends Posted June 23, 2017 #7 Share Posted June 23, 2017 My waiter the second time I sailed Splendor brought our family a cheese plate for an appetizer before each dinner... without being asked. It was a little gesture that made our cruise. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk

Arridman Posted June 23, 2017 #10 Share Posted June 23, 2017 Positive things about Carnival is that it is a party ship. If you want to enter the ship with a beer in hand and have the ability to have your kids run around the ship at well, then it is the cruise for you. However, not for me. adkcruiser Posted June 23, 2017 #11 Share Posted June 23, 2017 During a cruise my wife came down with a bad cold and couldn't eat in the main dining room. Upon hearing that she was sick, our waiter, at the end of my dinner, brought a huge bowl of chicken soup for me to take back to the cabin for my wife. Such a kind and thoughtful gesture! JeffsWife Posted June 23, 2017 #12 Share Posted June 23, 2017 My waiter the second time I sailed Splendor brought our family a cheese plate for an appetizer before each dinner... without being asked. It was a little gesture that made our cruise. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk Our waiter on my first Carnival cruise did the same for my family! And when he noticed a preference toward the brie, he started bringing a second cheese plate with more brie than the other cheeses (large family, table for 10). The second half of the cruise, we'd find the cheese plate already at the table when we were seated. We also found it to be such a thoughtful gesture that we all remember that more than almost any other service aspect of the cruise. :)

A&Jfamily Posted June 23, 2017 #14 Share Posted June 23, 2017 Exercise manners and behave with appropriate decorum. I have never observed a fellow passenger do anything overly kind or above and beyond the call. I see hundreds every cruise, drink, have fun, keep their curse words to themselves, yield the elevator to those exiting, take turns when lining up for the tender, and wear appropriate clothing to each dining venue. But I also see those that don't; they simply lack class. It is the staff that distinguishes Carnival the most IMHO. Between Carnival, Princess and RCI, they are the most likely to meet you with a smile and happily honor a request. They love the kids and are always kind to them. When my boys were smaller, they used to leave a chocolate chip cookie on their bed with their towel animal.

I rarely drink and MIGHT splurge on a drink or 2 the entire trip. I don't dance or go to casinos. I enjoy Carnival though and love how cheaply we can vacation. crzycick Posted June 23, 2017 #16 Share Posted June 23, 2017 Our first cruise was a delayed honeymoon and a welcome home from Iraq trip for my husband. On elegant nights I wore ball gowns and he wore his dress blues. A man sitting upstairs saw us and brought us a large bottle of champagne. I didn't care for it but it was such a sweet thing to do that we drank a bit every night. Our second cruise we returned to our room one night and the room attendant had lit all of the battery operated tea lights we brought and spread rose petals on the bed. It was beautiful and would have been a great start to a romantic evening but we were wicked sunburned and wanted nothing to do with each other :')

pghsteelerfan Posted June 23, 2017 #18 Share Posted June 23, 2017 If this is about fellow passengers, to be honest, nothing really stood out. BUT I do have to say that on each of our cruises we have met some really, really nice people that we have really enjoyed seeing multiple times throughout those cruises, whether it's just seeing them around the ship, on excursions, and on our past three cruises, our table mates at dinner. There are passengers, on each cruise, who will see me getting a picture of DH and will ask if we'd like them to get a picture on my camera of BOTH of us, which is appreciated. We return the favor and do the same if we see a couple where one is taking pictures of the other. But that seems to happen on every cruise, so it doesn't stand out as something out of the norm. On two of our recent cruises, we have met others through the CC roll call (and a "social media" roll call on our most recent) that we got to "know" before our cruises, actually met on the cruises, and are still in touch with to this day and consider friends. There were a few on our last CC roll call that we didn't get the opportunity to meet, one in particular who followed along on CC reviews of our cruise by two of us and interacted by commenting about the memories of our cruise and the moments leading up to it. I really wish we'd all have had an opportunity to meet him. Next time! ;) Our roll calls have been civil with others passing along ideas of things to do in ports, helpful hints in packing, or answering questions in general. No one got snarky or nasty with anyone else. Yes, some of those rude passengers do stand out and we have had some on each cruise. But maybe they tend to stand out because most of our other fellow passengers are going about their business of enjoying their cruise in a civilized manner and don't stand out. But overall, we've sailed with some pretty nice people, some whom we've gotten to know and are still in touch with, and that far outweighs the bad, even if nothing stands out as "the best" thing. Alaskan Joe Posted June 23, 2017 #20 Share Posted June 23, 2017 One thing I saw was a drunk guy horsing around. Upon his horsing around he fell in to another guy, the drunk fell to the floor. The guy he ran in to I could see instantly he was hott under the collar. He bent down to the drunk guy and grabbed him by his collar/boot straps, and says "What the F$*&........(he wanted to say more but instead said) are you ok? I'm sorry if I was in your way". Then he proceeded to straight'n out his collar "here you go sir have a nice night". You and I both know a lot people would have escalated this in to a bad situation. grest Posted June 23, 2017 #22 Share Posted June 23, 2017 We happened to be on a cruise where there was a large group of special needs kids/young adults. It was charming and heart-warming to see the crew's attentiveness.
cantthinkofanythingfun Posted June 23, 2017 #23 Share Posted June 23, 2017 It seems that most of these positive experiences are someone de-escalating a drunken situation. I don't know if this is going to plan.
bury me at sea Posted June 23, 2017 #24 Share Posted June 23, 2017 A woman in a wheel chair and I were at a portside deck smoking area one night when a rain storm with heavy wind occurred. The automatic doors apparently locked (or malfunctioned). We couldn't get in and no one inside could see us trying to open the doors. A young fellow passenger approached us. I don't know why he was outside. He couldn't get the door to open either, so he walked in the rain to another entryway, got inside, came back to where we were, opened the door from the inside and let us in. We were two old women very grateful for his kindness.
firemanbobswife Posted June 23, 2017 #25 Share Posted June 23, 2017 One thing I can think of was on my Vista cruise while I was laying out in Havana, I asked my mom and friend if I could borrow their suntan lotion. They both had like SPF 50. I said "You have got to be kidding me?! No one here has anything less than that? You all are crazy! How am I supposed to get tan with that nonsense? Forget it!" To which a lady overheard and said she has some SPF 8 and if I wanted she would go get it. I told her that was very nice and I would appreciate it, but I didn't want to inconvenience her. She said "No problem, be right back." She went around the corner to her Havana Cabana and viola! Produced the much better SPF 8. Hey, I'm half Italian and don't burn. Anything over an 8 is an insult to my skin! Oh and while I'm thinking (trying not to hurt myself here), I also had another super great experience on Vista. This one is a little long so I'll just copy and paste from my review: I waited until about 4:00 on Monday to iron my dress. There was a long line on 7 so this other lady and I went down to 6 where she saw her son (I think) ironing his blazer. She told him to turn it inside out and then started to do it. She told me to go ahead since mine wouldn't take long. I started to put it on the board and she said I needed to turn mine inside out too. I told her I don't iron and that I would pay her $5 if she wanted to do it jokingly. She replied that she lost enough money in the casino the night before that she would take me up on the offer. Told her no problem, I'll be right back! Left my dress with her, ran up to my cabin, grabbed $5 and came back just as she was finishing up. She didn't want the $5 and said she told her relative that she couldn't believe I went to go get the cash! I insisted and she still refused. I was so thankful that I didn't have to deal with it and said "I am leaving the $5 here on the washing machine and thank you so much!". Off I went with my nicely pressed dress .
