deeko Posted July 5, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 5, 2017 (edited) Hi all, :) We've been on a fair few cruises but not yet gone to the Fjords. I know many members will have done that, so I'm asking for advice on where to book a balcony cabin. Port or Starboard? I guess a rear suite would be great.....but come on....that's a lot of money to spend, so I'd welcome any advice. Thanks. CruiserBruce Posted July 5, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 5, 2017 In most fjords, you go into, and out, the same way. So side of the ship doesn't matter. You will see one side going in, and the other coming out. Of course, that only applies if the ship locks you in your cabin, and aren't roaming all over the ship. WatchHill Posted July 5, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 5, 2017 We just returned from a 14 night cruise of the Norwegian fjords with Princess. Some fjords are over 100 miles in length, so you'll be entering or leaving at very late or early hours - not to worry if it's at or near the summer solstice - the sun doesn't set! The views from each side of the ship differ in most areas. We often awoke before the ship arrived at its destination, then tried to dine as close to a window as possible both at breakfast and dinner. Our room was port side, and in all honesty, it didn't make much difference - everywhere you looked, the scenery was spectacular. No pictures can capture the beauty and majesty of the scenery. deeko Posted July 5, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted July 5, 2017 Thank you Darcy. We've been on Princess twice now and enjoyed it. In the Caribbean the Sanctuary is a must. Maybe less so in Northern climes. We haven't decided which line to cruise with yet but your practical information is great. Thanks Deeko
