cooperbrown1981 Posted August 17, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 17, 2017 Looks like a hurricane or tropical storm is predicted to hit Honduras on Monday/Tuesday same day Liberty is also suppose to be in port. When do they determine if they will change the itinerary to avoid these storms. I have posted a link of projected path below. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at4+shtml/205349.shtml?cone#contents

OCruisers Posted August 17, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 17, 2017 They seem to wait until the "projected path" is somewhat confirmed and arrangements have been made elsewhere for your ports of call before announcing your new itinerary.
cooperbrown1981 Posted August 17, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted August 17, 2017 Has anyone been on a Galveston Cruise that changed ports due to weather---I would assume they would just use the alternative route such as Grand Cayman/Jamaica if that would avoid the weather compared with going to a new port
time4u2go Posted August 17, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 17, 2017 There's no way of knowing when they would decide. Several factors at play, including the route the storm takes, the speed it travels, where the ship would be in relation to the storm, how big the storm is, and how much certainty there is in the forecast. (July 31-Aug 7 cruise). We were advised after sail-away that they were watching the storm (not a hurricane when we departed, but projected to become one ) and the Captain would make a decision when updated information on the storm was received. The next day (1st full sea day) , it was announced we were diverting due to the new hurricane, and our two ports would be Nassau and Cozumel. It was a good call, as we had beautiful, sunny weather the entire cruise! The crew did a great job to come up with alternative excursions for our new port. OceansOfTravels Posted August 18, 2017 #9 Share Posted August 18, 2017 Last year when a storm with a similar path happened, the Liberty was going from Galveston to Roatan, Costa Maya and Cozumel. But, the storm changing their itinerary to 4 sea days, two at the start and the end, and new stops in Nassau and CocoCay. They could do something similar, but like other posters have said, it is completely unpredictable.
Wanna Be Retired Posted August 18, 2017 #10 Share Posted August 18, 2017 Yikes! My whole family will be on the Liberty on Sunday! We had no plans, though. We were just going to relax and enjoy each other's company!
