I'm currently on the Amsterdam in Alaska, and the only sports station is ESPN. It might be different on the Eurodam, though

Hey ArtsyCrafty! We just got off the Amsterdam on 11 Sep and our main issue is HAL doesn't pay the cable provider to have news Chanels before 8am! Sports is on all day in the sports bar. ;p

None, but what does that have to do with the repeat itineraries I have done?. I saw CNN on those itineraries in the past but now cannot? did they switch satellite? I never mentioned TA. and only am referring to itineraries where CNN was available ,,,,,,,, for years

Nothing, but the lack of availability in the middle of the ocean ( and in extreme north and south latitudes) was one of the driving factors for the change. As far as I know, CNN did NOT switch satellites

Sailing on the Eurodam to Alaska from Seattle and am wondering if there are any sports channels on HAL's TV? if so what channels may I expect?

Aren't there sports matches on the screen in the bar near the casino: the one where the early evening bar trivia is held?

Dunno if anyone saw my earlier post but we got off the Eurodam last week and all of the news channels were airing live broadcasts before 8am - not sure if it was because they were reporting on Irma coming in or not but we were watching.....

One of the reasons HAL dropped CNN was that it was carried on terrestrial TV satellites and was not available in the middle of the ocean or far north(south) (caused a lot of complaints). ....

… Or A Trump Effect ?

The live news shows are showing at their regular time in their time zone. When you cruise to Europe advancing the clocks 6 hours or more you get whatever is on the news stations back in their normal time zone. When you try watch the news in the morning you get shows that are on late at night back in the states or maybe in the middle of the night. We were far out in the Pacific during last years election and were getting results from the east coast in the middle of the afternoon.

For the longest time, Cruise Critic has been one of the few websites that I can go to and get cruise information, hints, good ideas, and a general wealth of useful information about cruising. Now, we have some people turning it into a political bashing site. PLEASE STOP IT. There are plenty of site you can go to to vent your political views. Please keep Cruise Critic out of that cesspool. Thanks.

It's just another sign of the ever increasing polarization in this country. A symptom of the disease, if you will. Despite your plea I can't honestly see Cruise Critic being able to inoculate itself any better than other aspects of polite society have. It is what it is, and where it will end nobody at this point can say. Maybe another world changing event that draws Americans together again?

There are way too many places where anyone can get a full dose of politics if that is what they want. I hope we do not drown in it here. many of us come here to escape politics. Those few who must slip politics in no matter the topic, please don't. Thank you for trying. to avoid politics according to CC rules.

I just wish they would show a news channel that wasn't just a political rant on one side or the other. I'd just like to tune in and see the world news!

I agree.   I like MSNBC but I would be happier with a more middle of the road with more news CNN than straight politics on Fox News and MSNBC.  Now it seems that even CNBC has been taken off the system in the Kdam.
