Any update on cruises scheduled to leave from Puerto Rico?

Has anyone with an international flight been able to find out if their flight is now scheduled to fly into Puerto Rico? Mine is still "suspended" which is leaving us in limbo. Since they haven't canceled it, they aren't refunding the money for us to book a new flight.

Where are you flying in from? Puerto Rico tourism is reporting that limited international flights are now operating...but my understanding is that most international flights are inter-Caribbean.

Flying from Grenada on Liat. Their website isn't showing any flights to/from Puerto Rico from now through the end of the year - which is the furthest out I've checked. I've emailed them multiple times only to be told that all flights are "suspended" and to keep checking back at a later date. They won't refund because the flight isn't "canceled."

Ugh, that's not good...but with SJU reporting as of today that they're back to full regular operations, hopefully in the next day or two Liat will switch your flight from suspended to confirmed.

I'm also concerned about my flight from Canada to San Juan in late November. Originally, there were only four flights per week from Canada to San Juan (two on Air Canada, two on Westjet)...Westjet recently dropped down to one per week, but I'm worried with the impact on tourist facilities and the resultant drop in demand for flights, and both Canadian airlines may just pull out of the island for the rest of the year...that's exactly what Westjet already did with St. Maarten.

However, for you with Liat, I would expect they'll be trying to get flights up asap, with San Juan being a major transit hub for across the Caribbean to places beyond.

Again....for every person that wants RC to "hurry up and cancel" there is another that wants them to "hang on as long as possible" to make changes. For those sailing within the next few weeks....I understand your anxiety....but it is part of cruising during hurricane season. While there is a chance anytime of year for reroutes....you took a larger risk booking during hurricane season. For those that say the ship can't sail out of PR even if the pier is ok due to supplies, etc....the ship can refuel and pick up supplies in other ports. I am sure The inventory manager onboard is very good and can work with corporate and vendors, etc to get supplies on other islands. For the Oct 7 sailing they are allowing folks to board on Oct 6. This should help those that might have gotten their hotel reservation cancelled. I think some folks are rushing into judgement and wanting RC to rush to judgement. I was telling Mr Ski about this thread....his reaction was " sounds like a bunch of people with half cocked information trying to give a barrel full of advice". For the hotels that are open, their staff probably wants guests for the paycheck/tips, etc. If the checkin staff/porters, etc can get to the pier...I am sure they need the paycheck/tips. If the island is capable of accepting the ship/pax, these people need the $. I know it is your vacation with dedicated/limited days...but these people have had their world blown apart and need whatever support the tourists and RC can give them. Just a few short weeks ago everyone was saying St M and St T wouldn't be able to handle a ship for 6 months. Today I am reading news from various sources that indicate both St M and St T will be eagerly accepting ships/pax early/mid November. So some folks rushed to judgement there! am sure they are in need of the tourist $. For those wanting RC to rush and make changes think about the fact you might be taking needed $ away from these folks that need the tourist $ asap. I can be a little inconvenienced in waiting until the last moment to make changes if needed....if that gives more of an opportunity to help these folks get back to normal and get tourist $ coming in.

I love you!

I love you!

Since we're not sailing until Dec. 17 on The Jewel, my husband wants to wait and see what happens before we make any changes. He feels very strongly about wanting to leave $$ in Puerto Rico. We've been to Puerto Rico a few times and loved it there, so we're excited to hear how much improvement has happened in the past weeks.

Our flight on Jet Blue from FLL to SJU 9-20-17 with arrival time of 10:30 pm just got cancelled.

Luckily, I had booked a back up flight through RCI air to sea from FLL to SJU early Saturday morning, and the leg of our flight into FLL 10-20 is still good to go.

I was told they are cancelling the late arrival flights due to airport conditions, so anyone with a late flight into San Juan might want to get proactive before everything for Saturday morning gets booked up.

I did get a refund instead of credit since the flight was cancelled.

Got my complimentary transfers booked--so back to playing the waiting game :)

Unfortunately, I can't wait it out too much longer as we sail in three weeks. At this point I think we're just going to have to suck it up and book from Grenada to JFK and then JFK to San Juan.

I'm Flying Halifax -> Toronto -> San Juan Saturday 18th November with west jet.. To catch the Jewel of the seas Nov 19th cruise.

I paid $1600 USD for a balcony suite that can now be had for $700 USD... friggen rip off.

I have a hotel booked but I don't even know what the status of that hotel is(Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel).. and I'm 'stuck' hanging around Puerto Rico from November 26th to December 3rd as the next Westjet flight out is December 3rd.

I have a car rental set up, I was going to head to Rincon and try to find an Airbnb thats safe and has electricity.

This is all a train wreck (Our honeymoon) and we would love to cancel our whole trip but we have too much money invested in it.

:(

FYI: saw your post and just to let you know, Sheraton OSJ cancelled our reservation. For 24/25 November. It is not accepting any reservations or confirmations until after 31 Dec 2017...or later.

So we had booked a new reservation through the CONUS website for Starwood (Sheraton), got the confirmation number and then I called the actual property this morning and was informed that the reservation managers were cancelling ALL reservations through 9 Jan 2018. Apparently, many rooms were damaged by the storm and all of the others are booked on long term contracts for Government first responders. There will be no room at the Sheraton properties for your vacation.

Go to See Puerto Rico and read the list of hotels that are open or will be open after a certain date and then, my advice, contact the property directly rather than go through a reservations office somewhere in the CONUS.

And good luck!

What, my reservation is cancelled?

This is giving me so much anxiety. I might just take a loss and cancel this stupid trip, screw Royal for not giving me any refund what so ever.

I called again last night after seeing your post and they confirmed my reservation. Maybe it's because I'm coming in later in the month (10/26-10/28). Just in case I also booked a back-up reservation at the Comfort Inn.
Darcy,

When you call are you calling directly to the hotel or the marriott reservations number?

We are going with another couple and they got a phone call today from the AC Hotel telling them their reservation is cancelled and there will be no reservations until November 1st because of FEMA. We called 787 827 7280 when we called.

I I'm not trying to upset you I just don't want to see you get there and not have a room.

Call Hotel El Convento! They said they would be open after Nov 1.

Marriott Stellaris accepted our reservation last week for Nov 25. You'd be wise to book a back-up reservation while you figure this out. From one [former] Nova Scotian to another...

Hi Bill,

At this point I don't think anything can upset me. I just booked an airline ticket from Grenada to JFK and then JFK to San Juan today since Liat can't guaranty they'll be flying to San Juan in three weeks.

I called the 787-827-7280 number. I called again tonight because with the airline change we only need the room for one night instead of two. They made the change and again told me they are "awaiting my arrival." While I know I probably shouldn't have done it, I also have a back-up reservation at Coral by the Sea. Reviews are so-so, but if I can tent camp for four days a year (and I hate camping) I can make do with a 2* hotel for a night vs. spending the night in the airport.

My plan is to call the AC Hotel again a week before to double check again.

Good evening. Did the hotel send you and email or call. We have reservations at Sheraton OSJ for 12-1-17 to 12-2-17. I could not get through to the hotel so I called Starwood. They confirmed the reservation and said all was fine.

We booked through a third party, not directly with the hotel. That might be an issue too.

I don't know if we should make other plans and just cancel the Sheratan.

Typing on cell so forgive mistypes.

I've confirmed that no Sheraton properties will accommodate until after 1 or 9 January 2018. We received not only the form notice directly from Sheraton Old San Juan (and it was clearly from the actual property, not a CONUS based Office), but also Old San Juan cancelled our reservation before we could!

Sheraton Resort and Casino told me when I called at 0945 CDT my time this morning that it was cancelling all reservations through 9 January 2018. Some rooms were damaged by the storm. All remaining rooms were snatched up on long term Government contracts to house first responders, both civilian and military.

On my online chat tonight with a very professional and courteous Marriott CSR, we both learned that no matter what the Marriott reservation website States, AC Condado is running on generators and housing only first responders; Renaissance is closed to all but first responders, and Stellaris won't guarantee any reservations at this time.

---sigh---- I'm tapped out. Taking travel pillow to sleep in the airport and catch a shuttle on Saturday morning. Will NOT risk flying in on date of sailing.

Good luck, everyone!! We're going to need it!

(And beverage package!! 😁)

We are sailing on the Summit, Nov. 18. United has daily flights through EWR, ORD and IAH. Delta, Porter/JetBlue and American have flights scheduled as well. There are significantly more than 3 - 4 flights per week from Canada to San Juan.

Thank you! I just talked to Starwood and confirmed my reservation. They told me if I have the number, I'm all good. I don't think they are communicating with the hotel directly. Mr Cigar King is talking about sleeping at the port. Do they have benches?
