Drinks brought on board

Depending on port/terminal, you might find a Coke machine inside/after security check-in. If you buy Coke from a machine, you can drink it on-board.

No you can not. You can take it aboard, but you are not allowed to drink it due to their contract with Pepsi Corp.

Just between you and me, I've heard that some ports have Coke machines past the security check-in. But you didn't hear it from me.

But surely the scanners as you actually board the boat will pick them up and they will be confiscated.

In many BOARDING ports, you scan in the terminal, and then board the ship. As you walk through the terminal, you may pass a machine or two.

At most ports along the way, they scan as you board, usually right on the ship. Different scenario.

But as swells says inside/after security check-in, the cokes won't be confiscated b/c you're already passed the scanners.
