davekathy Posted December 4, 2017 #26 Share Posted December 4, 2017 And the sign said "Long-haired freaky people need not apply"So I tucked my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why He said "You look like a fine upstanding young man, I think you'll do" So I took off my hat, I said "Imagine that. Huh! Me workin' for you!" Whoa-oh-oh Sign, sign, everywhere a sign Blockin' out the scenery, breakin' my mind Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign? And the sign said anybody caught trespassin' would be shot on sight So I jumped on the fence and-a yelled at the house "Hey! What gives you the right?" "To put up a fence to keep me out or to keep mother nature in" "If God was here he'd tell you to your face, man, you're some kinda sinner" Sign, sign, everywhere a sign Blockin' out… Sign, sign, everywhere a sign Blockin' out the scenery, breakin' my mind Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign? Now, hey you, mister, can't you read? You've got to have a shirt and tie to get a seat You can't even watch, no you can't eat You ain't supposed to be here The sign said you got to have a membership card to get inside Ugh! And the sign said, "Everybody welcome. Come in, kneel down and pray" But when they passed around the plate at the end of it all I didn't have a penny to pay So I got me a pen and a paper and I made up my own little sign I said, "Thank you, Lord, for thinkin' 'bout me. I'm alive and doin' fine" Wooo! Sign, sign, everywhere a sign Blockin' out the scenery, breakin' my mind Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign? Sign, sign, everywhere a sign Sign Sign, sign Right on! Old hippie here and this song still holds true today.

Sanz Posted December 5, 2017 #28 Share Posted December 5, 2017 After about 50 cruises we have noticed a trend to dress down, and be more comfortable. I'm all for that. Can got to most local places with a nice pair of slacks and a nice shirt....NO MORE TIES FOR ME....especially in the hot Caribbean environment...Yippie. Not hot inside the ship. Usually quite cool. Last time I was on Anthem there was no formal night. And that was fine with me. Sounds like you were last on the Anthem when there was a different menu in each of the four dining rooms. One of the dining rooms was designated "formal night, every night". The dining rooms currently share the same menu. Formal night is back.

The77thrunner Posted December 5, 2017 #31 Share Posted December 5, 2017 I wore a pink baseball cap while my hair was growing back from Chemo. The Maitre'D did look at me kinda wierd:* I was wondering about that. My husband is also recovering from chemo and we sail in about a month. I think he is the world’s handsomest bald man but he is very self conscious about not having hair. He wears a hat nearly everywhere.

Guinness1000 Posted December 5, 2017 #34 Share Posted December 5, 2017 As far as dress code goes, I would say things are pretty far from how you see people dressed in the brochures for example. I used to worry about what to pack so we didn't stick out like rubes, but I no longer do. :)
strobellayjam Posted December 5, 2017 #35 Share Posted December 5, 2017 Last time I was on Anthem there was no formal night. And that was fine with me. Sent from my iPhone using Forums We're sailing on the Anthem (and first time with RCL) this spring so curious to know about this. I had read that Anthem does not do set formal nights but formal wear is suggested for dining in the Grande. Does this mean that hypothetically if you dine in the Grande for the entire duration of the cruise, you are to dress more formally? Just confused how this works. Thx. kalliekae Posted December 5, 2017 #36 Share Posted December 5, 2017 Just off the Allure and the first formal night had the majority of people dressing up. There were a few in shorts and a t-shirt in the MDR. On the second formal night, I'd say less than 50% of the passengers dressed up. Many were in less formal sundresses or jeans. Personally, we dressed up the first night, but I wore a simple dress and hubby had on a sport coat sans tie on the second "formal" night. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in and don't worry about everyone else.

See Post 28 above for your answer. Grande was a "formal" venue during Anthem's dynamic dining phase, and there were no formal nights throughout the rest of the ship. Once Royal ditched dynamic dining, Grande became one of four MDRs, all with the same menu, and Anthem has gone to ship wide "formal" nights.
