gatime Posted October 8, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 8, 2017 Every cruise we take cash for the casino. Not really a problem, but this next cruise we are on a 15 day cruise. I was wondering if we could charge money to our room to play in the slots. Not really sure how this all work or even if it's allowed. But it seems like it would be more convenient to charge to our cabin and not have to deal with large sums of money. Another question is, Does NCL limit how much you can charge to your cabin? Any and all info regarding this would be so helpful. Thank you!

You would need to bring a check to pay off your markers on the last night. There is no charge for this, but you must set it up in advance.

It's been a year since I cruised but my recollection is that I inserted my room key in the slot machine, entered a PIN (defaults to birth date) and input a dollar amount that I wanted to be added to the machine. On my bill there is a $100 charge plus a $3 service fee charge. I received instructions for the PIN from the casino desk.

It is just a ship charge, so you don’t get charged by your credit card company for a cash advance. And if you have a Rewards card (e.g.,an airline credit card) you earn air miles for your gambling. gatime Posted October 9, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted October 9, 2017 Whoa 3% seems steep, especially if you consider what I spent a few months ago on last cruise (lol). The credit limit seems like a great idea and something worth looking into. Thank you for your input.

Sand and Seas Posted October 9, 2017 #7 Share Posted October 9, 2017 As an FYI, If you have players club status with them of Sapphire or higher, the 3% fees are taken off at the end of the cruise. There is lots of information here regarding their players club and cash/credit: https://www.ncl.com/why-cruise-norwegian/casino-cruise

Mike C Posted October 9, 2017 #10 Share Posted October 9, 2017 Just be aware that the minimum amount for casino credit is $5,000. https://www.ncl.com/ca/en/casino/apply You have to sign up for a minimum of $ 5,000, but you can take markers for smaller amounts against the $ 5,000. cb at sea Posted October 9, 2017 #11 Share Posted October 9, 2017 Just bring the cash...no sense in losing 3% of your funds right off the bat...the slots will take care of that for you, I'm sure! Larger bills are easier to carry...the casino can break them down, if you want to.
gatime Posted October 10, 2017 Author #12 Share Posted October 10, 2017 Just be aware that the minimum amount for casino credit is $5,000. https://www.ncl.com/ca/en/casino/apply This would be fantastic but NCL states that this need to be set up 30 days in advance and we are sailing in just 3 weeks. So I missed out on going this route. But will do this next time.

Larger bills are easier to carry...the casino can break them down, if you want to. That was my thoughts. The casino will most likely be getting my casino fun, but they also want an extra 3%! Heck no! 3% might not seem like much but it's the point really. I even thought about getting travelers checks, but then after thinking about it, It started sounding like one big headache. gatime Posted October 10, 2017 Author #14 Share Posted October 10, 2017 My husband takes cash advance from his cc and earns points! I've never done a cash advance from a CC. Can you tell me how this works. Like, Do you get the advance at the ATM. Do you pay ATM fee and how much can you take out at a time? The earning points sounds great but not if the fees are costing more than the points earned.
