Which ports require a tender

GETTING ON AND OFF THE SHIP

At certain ports of call, small boats known as "tenders" are used to transport guests to and from the ship to shore. Carnival is committed to accommodating its guests with disabilities so they can fully, yet safely, enjoy the ports of call. Whether guests with mobility limitations can board a tender is subject to numerous factors, including weather and tidal conditions, all of which affect the transfer from one moving vessel to another moving vessel. While the sea and wind conditions may be acceptable to safely board the tender, fluctuations in the weather may make re-boarding of a tender to return to the ship dangerous. Safety restrictions prohibit crew from carrying individuals onto or off the tenders. The final determination of whether any guest may board a tender is made by the Captain.

Tendering ports:

  • Belize City, Belize
  • Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

  • Catalina Island, California
  • Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

  • Half Moon Cay, The Bahamas
  • Kona, Hawaii

  • Princess Cays, The Bahamas

The amount of time it takes to get off depends on many variables, and in the beginning, it is a nightmare. Usually, if you can wait about an hour or so, it is easy to go down and get on a tender without fighting crowds.

I know of no comprehensive list, but usually the printed itinerary for a sailing you are considering will have 'coded' notes to denote what is happening each day.

Example: HAL tags each day with the following

TR Tender Required

NW Wheelchair Access Limited

CO Cruising Only

P1 Transit Times Are Approximate

SC Service Call

What are your Ports of Call?

And NOT all passengers will get off the ship. Just because it is a tender port, some cruisers that have been to that port before will enjoy a sea day where there is less people on the ship- no lines at lunch and lots of extra chairs by the pool.

Since this is on the Carnival forum, I have to assume that OP is asking about Carnival specifically. Carnival does punish a list, which someone else was kind enough to copy/paste.
