Fang Posted November 26, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 26, 2017 My family is taking the Summit to Bermuda this summer and would like to look over the dockyard when in port ain Kings Warf. Should we get a port or starboard side cabin? Thanks so much.
Rare cruisestitch Posted November 26, 2017 #2 Share Posted November 26, 2017 Port one week, starboard another time. I don't think it's predictable.
leaveitallbehind Posted November 26, 2017 #3 Share Posted November 26, 2017 (edited) The above response is correct. There is no way to know for sure in advance which side will be docked to the pier. As example, Bermuda is frequently used as a life boat drill port as the ship is there over time. If a drill is to be performed, whichever side is the side necessary for the drill that week will be the side to the harbor to facilitate release of the lifeboats. But even no drill is to be performed, it is the discretion of the Captain as to which side he will dock to the pier and that can change itinerary to itinerary. We've been there several times and have an equal mix of both sides to the pier. IMO the view is nice from either side as the harbor and view towards Hamilton - in particular at night - is very pretty, as is the view of the activity in the Dockyard. Rare Keith1010 Posted November 26, 2017 #4 Share Posted November 26, 2017 As mentioned there is no way of knowing. On a sailing like this I would focus more on being mid-ship in case seas bother you all rather then which side of the ship you will be on. Siora7777 Posted November 26, 2017 #5 Share Posted November 26, 2017 Last year when I went, Starboard overlooked the port. Both ships there that day it was the starboard side.

The key phrase in your post being "that day"......next week the same ships may have been to port side.
dkjretired Posted November 26, 2017 #7 Share Posted November 26, 2017 Always go starboard because all the outdoor smoking sections are on the port side. All the other posters are correct, you never know which side you will dock on.

Redtravel Posted November 27, 2017 #9 Share Posted November 27, 2017 Either side has nice views. Been on both sides. It doesn't matter. You will be looking out at Bermuda. Stop worrying and just enjoy.
