Oh..such memories....I hope someone finds pics of the Tropicale.... I was a crew member when she was brand new, Carnivals first new build. She was considered huge back in the day, 1982-1984 I was a casino dealer. Time of my life... a lot of my friends left the ships to go to the land casino in Paradise Island.

I'm not a fan of the megaships that carry like 4 or 5000 passengers but those ships look SMALL How many passengers did they carry?

Our very first cruise was on the Carnivale, 7 day in May 1991 out of San Juan. We had an inside cabin and thought the ship was "huge"!!! We had a blast but did not sail for almost 21 years because of kids and much traveling while in the AF. Glad we took up cruising again. The Carnivale will always have a special place in our hearts.

Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures to share, but my first cruise was on the Mardi Gras in 1984. One thing I remember about the ship is the “casino”. It was a small room with only slot machines in it that you fed quarters into. Nothing like they are today. Sure wish I had pictures.

I just made the connection here - Crystal Palace is also the name of the Ecstasy's casino. I wonder how long Carnival owned the resort in Nassau? I bet it was heavily promoted onboard.

 

 

 

Probably so. It is where we went for our excursion.
