K&RCurt Posted January 11, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 11, 2018 I have been there in October and the water was way too cold for me, also been there is Mid January and it was beautiful. It is really a crap shoot.
13cheermom Posted January 11, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 11, 2018 Have to agree with above post, summertime months are the best for warm waters. Also another consideration is late summer early fall there is more chance of hurricanes and storms which won't allow you to tender to the island. This happened to us in October one year and we had to go back the following June in order to enjoy a cabana. Loved the island though and it was a beautiful weather day. LostPuppy Posted January 11, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 11, 2018 I've been there in January and thought the water temps (low 70's?) were fine for swimming. Then again I'm from a northern clime and anything above 20° in January is welcome....
SusieKay Posted January 11, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 11, 2018 We were there this Thanksgiving. It was hot, sunny, and the water was lovely. Sent from my SM-T230NU using Forums mobile app

OCruisers Posted January 12, 2018 #8 Share Posted January 12, 2018 Late Spring is a wonderful time to go to HMC. :D
ScottyZkaaayk Posted January 12, 2018 #9 Share Posted January 12, 2018 I would recommend the summer months. Late fall to early spring, the water is probably too cold to actually enjoy a nice swim. Also, try to avoid late summer and early fall as these are hurricane months. HMC is a tender port and if the water is too rough or choppy, you just may be forced to skip this port. Rare Keith1010 Posted January 12, 2018 #10 Share Posted January 12, 2018 Summer is preferable but in the summer you may get those daily thunderstorms. June is a nice time. Keith

Doggielover68 Posted January 13, 2018 #12 Share Posted January 13, 2018 It's hit or miss. I was just there in December and the weather was great. The next day we were in Nassau which is close by and it was cold. Sent from my iPad using Forums
cb at sea Posted January 13, 2018 #13 Share Posted January 13, 2018 The only reason I get in the water is if it's too hot on the beach. Otherwise, there's no reason to get wet! If you get too hot, the water will be refreshing.
smurfm69 Posted January 13, 2018 #14 Share Posted January 13, 2018 We went in mid May and it was perfect! This is now our favorite beach with crystal clear, calm water and soft white sand. Spend the money for a cabana, it's totally worth it!
Djptcp Posted January 14, 2018 #15 Share Posted January 14, 2018 DH and I have been to HMC many times on Holland America and I found the water in January to be freezing and not at all enjoyable. Fine in other months like Feb-March and Nov-Dec. It could be that January was a colder month since others have found January to be okay. We are used to a heated pool and that could make a difference, too. HMC is a lovely place and we have always rented a clamshell to provide some shade when needed.
