Have to agree with above post, summertime months are the best for warm waters. Also another consideration is late summer early fall there is more chance of hurricanes and storms which won't allow you to tender to the island. This happened to us in October one year and we had to go back the following June in order to enjoy a cabana. Loved the island though and it was a beautiful weather day.

I would recommend the summer months. Late fall to early spring, the water is probably too cold to actually enjoy a nice swim. Also, try to avoid late summer and early fall as these are hurricane months. HMC is a tender port and if the water is too rough or choppy, you just may be forced to skip this port.

DH and I have been to HMC many times on Holland America and I found the water in January to be freezing and not at all enjoyable. Fine in other months like Feb-March and Nov-Dec. It could be that January was a colder month since others have found January to be okay. We are used to a heated pool and that could make a difference, too. HMC is a lovely place and we have always rented a clamshell to provide some shade when needed.
