That is a strange condition. Why would it matter what status the guest is? So if two black card members travel together only one person can go have a free dinner.

No, both can go to dinner together. Neither are "extending the invitation" to the other.

But according to those terms it is one dinner for two per cabin and the member who redeems the dinner can not extend the invitation to another black card member. So in theory, a black card member would have to dine alone.

The other statement that is in there is weird too. If you decide to dine in the buffet you can't use the black card dinner? Who comes up with these terms at MSC? I wonder if they put together the terms in Italian and the translation to English gets messed up.

Yeah ............. I can't, for the life of me, work out what the buffet has to do with it.

We're descending further down the rabbit-hole, now. That's for sure!

It sounds to me like MSC is restricting the free dinner to 1 per cabin, even if there are 2 black card passengers in the cabin. However, if there are others in the cabin (3rd and 4th passengers, such as children) they may come with the Black Card members for the free dinner.

I believe that is the point of the 'guest may not be a Black Card member' language.

I think they have realised that it is costing them too much due to the status match at black card level and have decided to penalise everyone including those who have earned their Black card status.

There is no other reason for this nonsense.

The point is that points earned are per person and not per cabin!

Hi guys,

We are black card members and just got off Divina.

We got 2 invitations for 2 people, so we chose to go to the speciality restaurant once and take 2 friends who are both NOT black card holders. We had zero problems.

Why was I not surprised that the ship in question is Divina?! How many bottles of bubbly did you get?

(Sorry if it seems like there's a tone - I don't begrudge you in the least! :) Just p****d at the inconsistencies across the fleet).

Just a thought!

If I, as a black card holder, take my wife, also a black card holder, to a specialist restaurant with my invite and we enjoy our meal. What's to stop my wife taking me as her guest with her invite a few days later. On previous occasions I don't recall them checking both of our cards, just one when it came to settling the drinks bill, or not as we always upgrade to a drinks package. We're on Fantasia at the end of next month and will probably do that if we don't take our friends with us to dine.

At least one person has reported that this worked on Seaside. Apparently the offer was on both cards, even if only a single card was given out. Of course, YMMV on it working.

Yup! It used to be that you each got a free dinner and brought your cabin mate with you...2 dinners for 2!

Now it says "one per cabin". That was not the case when we booked nor was it the case on Divina, and they changed it just recently.

Not feeling good about that.

Yeah, they made a generous offer and got lots of frequent cruisers from other lines to take advantage of it AND book cruises that they might not have otherwise. Then they decide the offer was too sweet so they start chipping away at it. That's really going to make these new customers want to return to MSC for a second cruise (not).

We were on the Divina in Nov 2017 and it was PER BLACK CARD (2 meals), not per cabin. So, we are both Black Card and went to 2 Specialty Restaurants and each had a free meal both times. Eataly Steakhouse and Galaxy. Will find out next week as we are back on Divina. Wish us luck. !!!! LOL
