zahav1 Posted February 16, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2018 Has the menu on Princess Cays changed in recent times? Haven't got off the ship to visit in 3 years, since I was always disappointed with the food.
floridalover5623 Posted February 16, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 16, 2018 If you didn't like it the last time, it hasn't improved that I saw lately. It's always been the same thing...chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers & ribs along with cookies & brownies. Of course you could always rent one of the cabana's & get an upgraded menu. GloriaF Posted February 16, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 16, 2018 We were there in January, and the food is pretty much the same. The only change that I can think of is that now the soda and/or drinks sticker now works on the island ~ this may not be a new change, but was new since the last time I went to PCays. We try to get off the ship early, go to the island and come back before the rush for a leisurely lunch onboard.

chrysalis Posted February 16, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 16, 2018 Thank you, I was hoping for a change, maybe more salads, tacos, anything new !! There used to be street wagons to the right over the bridge that served tacos....I can only presume that they are still there.

Yea, I forgot about the new carts. I've never eaten anything from them so - no comment.

That must be super new because the sticker only worked for mocktails on PCays last november.

We tried them last time we were there.. last year?? Anyway, BBQ and the Taco's were pretty good. Certainly worth the taste IMO.

WVBill Posted February 16, 2018 #10 Share Posted February 16, 2018 I always go to the buffet & maybe this time I'll give it a try.How bad could it be? Cooked (or par-cooked) probably around 5 or 6AM on the ship, put into hot or cold boxes, hauled over to Princess Cays on a tender and put out for service about 10:30 or 11:00 under the buffet cabana and finished cooked or re-heated on the grill.;p Tried it my first time - didn't bother second time. Eat a good breakfast before coming over.
GloriaF Posted February 16, 2018 #11 Share Posted February 16, 2018 That must be super new because the sticker only worked for mocktails on PCays last november. Perhaps I'm wrong. I'm repeating what my son, who had the alcoholic beverage package told me, and I did not ask after the cruise if he was charged or not. I know it worked for my soda & more sticker. Well for that matter the chicken & ribs are also pre cooked & then finished off on the island and there not to bad. ;)
GweninTX Posted February 17, 2018 #13 Share Posted February 17, 2018 We enjoyed the ribs a lot. They were cutting up fresh fruit salad that was great. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
OCruisers Posted February 17, 2018 #14 Share Posted February 17, 2018 Basically the same as always ... but you can always get something else once back on the ship at IC (International Cafe), pizza, or burger grill, or even the buffet .... :D
back2tampa Posted February 18, 2018 #15 Share Posted February 18, 2018 We enjoyed the food trucks when we were there in November. The jerked chicken is awsome.
Rare geoherb Posted February 18, 2018 #16 Share Posted February 18, 2018 We'll be there in two days. My plan is to get one of the first tenders over to the beach, enjoy a brisk swim, then go back to the ship for lunch at Alfredo's.
Grego Posted February 18, 2018 #17 Share Posted February 18, 2018 It is just that, easy to prepare and serve basic beach food that will fill the void until you return to the ship. There just isn't the facility to do anything other than this.
