Can you tell me how this, works? We can join AARP and will if I can figure this gift card thing out.

Just google "AARP Rewards For Good" - you don't have to pay to join - you just take some surveys and rack up the points to get the gift cards! $90 for $100 or $450 for $500

I did start doing the rewards. I just want to make sure I understand once I get the points needed I purchase the gift card. Then print it out. There will be a number on it that works just like a debit card to pay on my cruise?

Correct. You can get e-cards emailed to you, or physical cards mailed to you. You'll have to pay shipping and handling on the physical cards. We haven't had any issues with the e-cards. I would recommend buying them as soon as you have the points though, they're not always available.

These gift cards have been available in $100 denominations just about every day I've checked since maybe a year ago? It's the $500 ones that are harder to obtain.

Either way, a great way to pay off a cruise or settle an onboard S&S acct. I used 6 $500 cards for a Horizon cruise and saved $300 there, and I have another $1,000 for my casino expenses and whatever on the same 8 day cruise, another $100 savings. Throw in the $640 price drops we received from the early saver rate on our spa balcony cabin and I think we got a good deal.

How does this work?

Go to the website and look for "Rewards for Good". You do not need to be a member, but if you are, you get more points for doing the quizzes. The more quizzes/activities you do, the more points you earn. Then you click on "redeem" and you will see all the cards/deals they offer. If you go to travel, you will find the Carnival gift cards. You save $10 on each $100 card by using 1,000 points. If you prefer an actual card, you can have them mailed to you for a small fee(less then $1 per card)or you can have them e-mailed to you for free.

Also - if you simply sign in every day, you'll get a few points, I think it's 30 or so. Not a lot, but they'll add up! Also watch emails from AARP, sometimes you'll find codes for some points!

Definitely don't be scared of the e-cards, they come quick and we haven't had any problems redeeming them...

If I have already paid my balance in full, is there a way to add the gift cards to my sail & sign account online or do I have to wait until we are onboard to apply them?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Onboard.............and I would wait until the last couple of days of the cruise to do so, that way you'll know much to apply. At least that's what I do.

Between this deal and the Amex deal my wife and I will have saved about $300 on our Horizon cruise. Now I'm debating on purchasing more to pay for excursions when they become available. Our trip is still a year away, so might be a while before we see anything.

^^^ THIS! This so much. So many people apply them in the beginning guessing how much to add, having to keep checking balances, having to keep going back to add more, having to cash out at the end, etc. Just make it easy on yourself and go once at the end of your cruise and settle up with gift cards and be done with it.

It's nice to save $300 on a $3000 cruise just by using gift cards. :) Personally I always stock up on them and have plenty handy. You never know when you will book another cruise, or take them aboard with you and pay your onboard spending with them. If you want to use them for excursions, you can (obviously) only do excursions through Carnival. You won't be able to use them for any private excursions you take. (Which I am sure you know, just clarifying)

Got myself $400 worth and paid $50 towards the internet. The other $350 got turned into Cruise Cash. I only do cash accounts and that’s my limit. I would keep track the same way no matter if I put a CC down or if I would apply them at the end.

Doubt I’ll spend it all and no problem if I don’t. I’ll just go to the casino. No muss no fuss at GS, a kiosk, or the extra counter at check in. It doesn’t get any simpler than that.
