Magicbar Posted March 2, 2018 #30 Share Posted March 2, 2018 If I use my AmEx for my on board account (cruising Breakaway next week) and purchase a couple of cruise next certificates, will this qualify for the point bonus. I wasn't sure if this offer is for new bookings, balance payments only or can be used in the manner I mentioned.

Mistizoom Posted March 2, 2018 #34 Share Posted March 2, 2018 My Platinum card had the 10K points offer, My Blue card had the $100, but my Delta Reserve card didn't have anything. So you have use these with the cards of other authorized users as well? Co-branded cards like Delta typically do not get this offer. It does work with authorized users but they need to have their own online Amex account to claim the offer.

peg013 Posted March 2, 2018 #39 Share Posted March 2, 2018 Hubby and I both got the offer ($100 back) and I already made a $500 payment on our Nov cruise and got the email from AMEX thanking me for using the offer! Thanks OP.
tempus137 Posted March 2, 2018 #40 Share Posted March 2, 2018 I had already paid in full in January. They would not apply the offer to that. I guess I'll just use my card to prepay my DSC and buy some OBC. Worst that will happen is my final OBC bill will be lower.
hrmkr Posted March 2, 2018 #41 Share Posted March 2, 2018 What happens if you buy OBC and do not use all of it? Does it get refunded to your account? Thinking about buying $500 of OBC and whatever is left to take the refund along with getting the $100 back from the promotion.

Thinking about buying $500 of OBC and whatever is left to take the refund along with getting the $100 back from the promotion. The OBC is refundable and would go back to your card. However the refund may void out the $100 credit because you technically wouldn't have spent the $500. It would be the same as if you ended up canceling your cruise Sent from my SM-N900V using Forums mobile app
moosecrouse Posted March 2, 2018 Author #43 Share Posted March 2, 2018 Interesting... I've got cards for my wife & kids, and each of them has their own login. I'll have them check tonight. Single guy so never thought about multiple cards on the same account. Are your wife & kids authorized users on your account or do they have there own accounts. Thinking I could add my mother & oldest nephew as authorized users if this works out for you. Please update later how you make out when you get a chance. Love2cruise77 Posted March 2, 2018 #45 Share Posted March 2, 2018 Thanks for posting this, wasn't expecting NCL to have this too. Only found it on the Blue Cash card, not the Hilton card.
hrmkr Posted March 2, 2018 #46 Share Posted March 2, 2018 GREAT NEWS!!! Even though I made my final payment 1 month ago, I was able to have them back out a payment and then used the Amex offer . I have 3 different cards between my wife and I. I had NCL refund $1500.00 to the other credit card I used which left me a $1500 balance. I then made a $500 payment from each card to leave a balance of $0. Make sure you add the offer to your card before doing anything. I immediately reeceived an email from Amex showing that the offer was used. For doing a little bit of work (10 minutes confirming with NCL and Amex) and then making the payments, I just saved $300!!! WOO HOO
amulcahy Posted March 2, 2018 #47 Share Posted March 2, 2018 Does anyone know if the $500 can be spent over more than 1 transaction? I have 2 cruises booked in 2018. One is past final payment so I would like to pre-pay the DSC for that and then make a payment toward the other cruise to make the $500. Hope that makes sense. Regguy Posted March 2, 2018 #50 Share Posted March 2, 2018 (edited) Does anyone know if the $500 can be spent over more than 1 transaction? I have 2 cruises booked in 2018. One is past final payment so I would like to pre-pay the DSC for that and then make a payment toward the other cruise to make the $500. Hope that makes sense. For what it's worth, I've found Amex offers to be somewhat hit or miss with using multiple payments even when the terms don't say that it needs to be one payment. I had one with Hilton just recently, for example, where I hit the spending requirement on two different stays, and it was really difficult to chase down the credit. Plus, you have to do it on the phone, and so they can ask you more questions to make sure you qualify. I'm obviously only a single datapoint, but I've found that the problem seems to be worse when the offer is for points instead of a cash rebate. For some reason, there has been some trouble in the system automatically aggregating multiple payments to the amex offer vendor in that circumstance. If you don't get the "congratulations you've used you offer" e-mail after the second payment, you may have some work ahead of you to get the credit. If it were me, I'd probably just use cash to pay the DSC and then pay one $500 payment toward the upcoming cruise with the amex card. In the end, cash is cash, and having to chase down Amex offers when they don't post automatically is a pain.
