San Juan late departure

How is the first day different on a cruise out of San Juan that doesn't leave until 8:30pm?

I have a check-in time that is early, but wasn't sure how other things go, such as:

- When can we get into our rooms? Normally 1:30 but wasn't sure about it for the late departure.

- How late will our luggage arrive? Normally anytime I know!

- When is the life boat drill and how does that work with dinner time?

- Is there a show the first night?

Anything else that's different that I didn't ask about?

I guess I should ask also, do they boot you off just as early when you arrive back in San Juan at the end of the cruise?

Staterooms are ready around 1:30pm on Adventure.

 

We got luggage around 3pm on Adventure.

 

Muster was around 5:30pm or 5:45pm for Adventure.

 

One show the first night, between the two traditional dining times.

Bob answered your questions but I'll add to the muster drill question. Our scheduled dining time was 6:00. The muster drill was at 5:45 so our dining time was moved to 6:30 on the first night.

Back in the good old days the ships used to leave San Juan around 11:00 PM or later. I think the muster was done before leaving around 10:30 or so, those were long days if you flew in the same day.

Everyone seems to have answered your questions, but I'll just add...make sure you are on deck for sailaway. There is just something magical about sailing from San Juan and past El Morro with a drink in your hand.

 

And yes, they still kick you off just as early as if you sailed at 3 in the afternoon.

I have never seen a ship leave San Juan after 10PM if on time. Muster was always done long before that
