firefox247 Posted May 8, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 8, 2018 Wife and I are sailing with our baby on Mariner in 2019. Our daughter will be 1.5 at time of sailing. When we booked initially, RCI forced us into a higher category JS because we had three people in our room. We have no use for pullmans, pull out couches, etc. because our daughter will probably be in a pack-n-play. Can we get a cheaper J4 instead of a J3, or does Royal lock you into the rooms that have as many beds as people in the stateroom?
spookwife Posted May 8, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 8, 2018 you have to call or go through TA to force the booking for an under 2 year old in a pack n play. you cannot do so online.
firefox247 Posted May 8, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted May 8, 2018 you have to call or go through TA to force the booking for an under 2 year old in a pack n play. you cannot do so online. Interesting. But it can be done? I'll call to change my room if so. Thanks!
Snit13 Posted May 8, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 8, 2018 I thought number in cabin was life boat issue not who was sleeping where. Bob will know the correct answer.
ONECRUISER Posted May 8, 2018 #5 Share Posted May 8, 2018 I know we were never allowed to have a Wee One(1.5-2yrs) not counted, always had to have a bed we never needed. But that was 17-20 yrs ago. So something I understand, to OP good luck...

firefox247 Posted May 8, 2018 Author #8 Share Posted May 8, 2018 Talked to my TA. They said they have had success in the past convincing RCI to allow this for an infant. They are going to try. Just a waiting game now. . . .
LadyBeBop Posted May 8, 2018 #9 Share Posted May 8, 2018 Good luck. I know that you can successfully put a child in a room designed for two. Our granddaughter was booked in the same room as my mother-in-law. However, she pretty much slept with my husband and me. We had adjoining rooms, so there wasn’t a lifejacket issue. firefox247 Posted May 8, 2018 Author #10 Share Posted May 8, 2018 Success! He was able to move all three of us to a J4, so that will save around $230. :D
Clarea Posted May 8, 2018 #11 Share Posted May 8, 2018 Success! He was able to move all three of us to a J4, so that will save around $230. :D Good to hear they still allow the pack and play in a two person stateroom.
Kelley17 Posted May 8, 2018 #12 Share Posted May 8, 2018 Good to hear they still allow the pack and play in a two person stateroom. Myself, my daughter and granddaughter (28) months went on the Harmony of the Seas in March of this year. We booked a Boardwalk cabin that sleeps 2. Royal Caribbean allowed that and brought a PAC n Play to our room for my granddaughter but we sent it back because we didn’t need it. My travel agent did have to call Royal Caribbean to get this approved.
