Dining

There's a bunch of options depending on what ship you go on. Most have a buffet and at least two free sit down restaurants. Then they also have restaurants that you have to pay extra for.. things like Steakhouse, Italian, French, seafood... Etc. Go on NCL website and look it up by whichever ship you plan on boarding.

Specialty restaurants will be noted on the "Daily" newsletter with a $ next to it so you know what has a charge.

As stated above, there are at least 2 main dining rooms that are complimentary as well as a 24 hour joint called O'Sheehan's which serves up pub food and such. There is the buffet which could be crowded.

Also for lunch and breakfast one of the main dining rooms will be open, but be aware that the menu will not change. It is really nice to get on board and have a sit-down lunch in the dining room rather than eating in the buffet with 2000 of your newest friends.

If you told us which ship you are sailing on, we can tell you exactly what has an up charge and what is complimentary. Also on some ships there is a pool deck bbq which is also included.

On Norwegian cruises how exactly does speciality dining work, are you allowed to eat in other restaurants instead of main buffet restaurant free of charge.Thank you

FREE DINING

On most ships, there are two or three main dining rooms. You show up when you are hungry. Get a table for your group. You are not seated with anyone else.

Buffet. You can go to the buffet and serve yourself a great meal.

24 hour restaurant. There is normally a restaurant open 24 hours a day. On most ships this is called O'Shehans. Goes by other names on some of the older ships. Always open. Always free.

SPECIALTY DINING

All specialty dining will cost you extra money. You don't have to eat at any of these restaurants. Some restaurants like Teppanyaki are a flat fee to eat. Other's are a la carte (like eating at any restaurant at home, each item has a price, you pay for anything you order).

You can also get a specialty dining package (purchased or as a promotion with some rooms) that allow you to eat at specialty dining restaurants for a set price.

There are a number of dining options available to you on NCL, some included in your cruise fare and others that are an additional upcharge.

The included restaurants on every ship are the main dining rooms (which are full service not buffet) and a separate buffet. There are also usually a couple of other venues that are included in your cruise fare.

The extra charge restaurants include the steak house (Cagney's) La Bistro (French style), and others.
