downsmead Posted July 23, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2018 I called Princess today to ask about a possible cruise and got a message that if your birthday is August 1st and you called them, that you could get OBC!! This may be an UK only offer but thought I would post about it 👍

justafem Posted July 23, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 23, 2018 For the princess 50th, hubby and I were each born in 1965, so we got an additional $50 per person OBC. THEN because we cruised on our 50th birthdays (15 day Hawaiian that overlapped both our b-days, 2 weeks apart) we got another $50 EACH. That was our first cruise, I didn't know that it was something special, but I sure enjoyed the $200!
Thrak Posted July 23, 2018 #4 Share Posted July 23, 2018 But... but... I share a birthday with Dr. Seuss. Doesn't that get me anything? :p

I called Princess and the representative put me on hold for a couple of minutes while she checked her "Promotions List". No Birthday OBC on her list. I am in California. neverbeenhere Posted July 23, 2018 #9 Share Posted July 23, 2018 A recently deceased friend claimed to have been born on February 30th. I didn't believe it until I looked it up, he was born in the Soviet Union in the 1930's.

I called Princess and the representative put me on hold for a couple of minutes while she checked her "Promotions List". No Birthday OBC on her list. I am in California. I was just getting ready to call and see if this could really be true. My husband's birthday is August 1. I'd love some OBC for our August Alaska cruise! floridalover5623 Posted July 24, 2018 #17 Share Posted July 24, 2018 Sounds to me like they gave you some OBC just to get you to book the trip. They probably knew your birthday date already & it was just a few dollars to seal the deal. The next caller will get the same message for their birthday date. :D Enjoy it. justafem Posted July 24, 2018 #19 Share Posted July 24, 2018 Huh!! We've cruised many times on DH's birthday and never gotten anything except the lousy balloons and the cake. I know the first $50 per person was because of the 1965 birth year, we had to contact our TA to get this OBC (who grumbled about extra work). I *think* the additional $50 per person was because of the 50th anniversary, when we both turned 50 on the cruise (which I'm sure was fairly rare). I could be completely wrong and we ended up with the additional OBC because of something else, but our TA sure didn't give us any discounts or OBC (lesson learned, she did send half a dozen chocolate strawberries, sarcasm).
