when when I am on a cruise whether it is carnival or some other cruise line, I often wonder how many people on the same cruise, it is their first time on a cruise?

This is what I was going to say as well. You can tell the new cruisers. They always have lanyards and blue cards. You get a red card on your second cruise.

You also see them loading up their plates, like it's their last meal or there isn't food available 24/7.

I am getting ready for my 3rd and 4th cruise and was just curious if you don't wear a lanyard where you keep your S&S card? It is so convenient. I think no matter what color my card is, it will be on a lanyard. lol

Agreed. I've also seen Golds and D&Ps with lanyards so I don't think it's as much of a newbie thing as some say.

I usually keep mine in my swim trunks small zipper pocket. I'm guessing those with pocket-less swim suits have no choice but go the lanyard route.

In my purse - but I'm not carrying around a purse when I'm on a cruise. I bought a nice necklace type card holder and wear it proudly. Guess I'm one of those nerd platinum cruisers. I've never understood why someone wearing even a bulky lanyard around their neck bothers other people.

Honestly, I don't think I've ever given a thought to how many cruises other guests have or have not been on. I'm usually too busy having fun.

In my purse that I don't carry when I am on the boat. I usually have on a sun dress, flip flops, and a lanyard around my neck. My husband also wears a lanyard. All we carry is a passport holder with us that both of our passports fit in and is also big enough for ID's and money and credit card and it stays in the safe. When we are in port we put it in a backpack with whatever else we need for the day.

Never said it bothered me. Where did I say that? But let me ask you a question.,,when you are at a hotel, do you wear a lanyard for your room key?

I normally don't have pockets because of being in a sundress or swimsuit and cover up so the lanyard works best for me.

I shouldn't tell this , but ! They have those free springy coiled ones for free in the casino. My wife was gambling and left hers in the slot while moving to another machine.

That thing shot out of that slot like a bullet and popped her right in the buttocks ( Forest Gump word ) . She turned and looked at me like it was my last day on earth !

Pocket, or backpack. I can't stand the feeling of a lanyard rubbing on my neck .... especially for just a S&S card. You would think people were wearing it as if it were their picture ID to enter a CIA building.

We both wear lanyards, no pockets, simple and effiecient. Also must add that we wear lanyards for work, so it feels like normal attire. I see a LOT of cruisers with lanyards, so not sure why this a big deal?
