adam_s_allen Posted August 4, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 4, 2018 The confirmation e-mail I got from NCL shows that I still owe a penny, when I log in to the website it says I'm paid in full. I saw a thread a year or two ago about this but I couldn't find it with the search on here. I called NCL about it and the rep told me I'm fine and they don't worry about collecting anything under 50 cents. Just wondered what others experience with this was. Rare Georgia_Peaches Posted August 4, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 4, 2018 Just curious how everything got paid except a penny. How does that happen?

adam_s_allen Posted August 5, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted August 5, 2018 The rep on the phone suspects it was something to do with exchange rates.
casofilia Posted August 5, 2018 #5 Share Posted August 5, 2018 We had the same thing happen a few years ago and it was caused by roundings during exchange transactions and then adding up of a number of items. Forget it!! I actually carried a CAD1c coin and offered it a check in!! A good laugh was had by all!!

I was just overly paranoid their system might cancel the cruise because final payment wasn't made.

I've heard crazier things than that happening to cruisers.
johnrich Posted August 5, 2018 #8 Share Posted August 5, 2018 Were you able to print out your edocs? If not, I would call NCL again. A couple years ago someone at NCL transposed 96¢ to 69¢ or something like that and we were not able to print our edocs until someone in accounting fixed it. We are in the US so there was no exchange rate that caused it, just human error. Just make sure you can print the edocs. If you can don’t worry about the penny. If you can’t, call and tell them you want to speak to a supervisor or someone in accounting. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
jb456 Posted August 5, 2018 #9 Share Posted August 5, 2018 One cruise I had issues with this. I bought $3000 OBC which was not showing when we boarded the ship. I had all the paper work and credit card statement showing it was charged. Guest services on board had to call Miami head office. They sorted it in a few hours. Turned out there was a few cents missing due to Canadian exchange rate from time of making payment to them processing payment. If I remember correctly they had to charge my card an additional 14 cents before crediting my OBC haha

Is that what you do as opposed to giving cash at check in when you board?
jb456 Posted August 6, 2018 #14 Share Posted August 6, 2018 Did you prepurchase $3000 OBC prior to the cruise so that you did not have to use a credit card for any on board purchases? Is that what you do as opposed to giving cash at check in when you board? I bought it prior. The Canadian bank rate was 1.30 for USD money. NCL rate at that time was 1.07. So $107 CAD for $100 USD. Much better than bank rate which would have been $130 CAD for every hundred. So once on ship I went to casino and withdrew it for a 3% fee. Got back $2910 USD. Once back in Canada went to bank and sold it. Got $3750 CAD back. Thanks NCL for paying for my cruise :)
