For SS first timers ... what are "hosted tables"?

When a member of the senior crew invites guests to share a meal with them. Might be the Captain or as on 1 cruise the ship's Engineer which was a very interesting night.

On SS you would receive an envelope at your door with the invitation.

Ah, right.  Wonder is SS has restarted that?  As of our last cruise in November 22, Celebrity was still avoiding that practice as a leftover from their pandemic policy.

Has anyone here ever taken a day trip to Antarctica? There's one from Perth that I may be able to wiggle in to my trip to AUS/NZ next January and think it might possibly work. I Know it's not the same as getting your boots on the ground, which I'm saving for a later adventure, but I think it might be a very nice little detour.

My sister has. She did that insane "world marathon challenge" a few years ago where you run a marathon each day for seven days, on a different continent each day.

So on day 2 they flew from Cape Town to some airstrip on Antarctica, ran for a few hours, and flew back to CPT to refuel for the flight to Perth for round 3.

I can get you that info if you'd like... 😉

How does the trip you're looking at work? Definitely cool to consider.

Thanks JP, there's no landing. It leaves Perth 8am, fly to the Continent and then it does 4 hours flight seeing over the continent before heading back.Supposed to be the best day trip in the world! https://www.antarcticaflights.com.au/the-worlds-most-unique-scenic-flight

No single supplement!

And all inclusive! Yay!

It means a bit more too-ing and fro-ing with an extra trip from SYD-PER then flying afterwards from PER to CNS. I Tried switching the Indian Pacific so I Could do it all at the same time in Perth but the train on the 28th is full.

For anyone interested in flights over Antarctica this site lists them. Can be sold through Qantas as well but most are charters.

Have a most marvelous time, @TLCOhio!  Very much look forward to your report

For our South Florida friend, my report from last night's Broadway Series musical about the Temptations can be summarized in two words: Super Excellent!!  Why?

Amazing cast with extremely good singing, dancing, etc.  There is also a "Real Story" there to go with the music and moves.  Like in life, there were "Ups and Downs" that faced the various members of the Temptations over the decades.  The cast was large and talented as shown below from my cell phone snap when they were doing their finishing number with all of the music performers seen on stage.

This story weaves in with Diana Ross and the Supremes, Smokey Robinson, Barry Gordy, etc.  Lots of fun memories and exciting to bring back some of the "Good Old Days".  Hope you enjoy and have the same or similar such a talented cast.  The staging and costumes were Broadway quality.  The crowd loved it!!  Great entertainment.

THANKS!  Enjoy!  Terry in Ohio

Fabulous! I Hope I don’t get the same shock that I had on 26/1 this year for republic day in India. Not only could I not get a drink from the bar they even stripped my minibar out. I Take it that doesn’t happen in Oz?

The republic would crumble, if that were the case!
