dwyrick68w Posted August 16, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 16, 2018 so there’s a group of 3 couples going on a cruise on 30 days. We had a misunderstanding about what time we wanted to done together. Two of us put any time and another picked the early. Well now there’s no options for us to pick the same dining time. One friend seems to think we can jut go to early dining time with him and still eat together. We booked through a carnival agent. Could she help? Or are we at the grave of the maitre d? memoak Posted August 16, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 16, 2018 If there is no early sitting available you would have to beg the maitre d. IMHO.
StolidCruiser Posted August 16, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 16, 2018 You won't be able to "switch" on your own by just showing up where you want. You will be at the mercy of the maître d with it being this close to sailing. It's often times harder to switch from fixed to ATD (as ATD is becoming the more popular choice). However, because you already have two parties in ATD you might have better odds getting the third changed. See the maître d as soon as possible once you board and see what they can do. Most times if you can be accommodated, you will be.
Kadeeu Posted August 16, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 16, 2018 You can also email the maitre d now and request whichever change you want to make. You may or may not hear back. Check with them once on board.

Could she help? Or are we at the grave of the maitre d? YTD and assigned dining are entirely different dining rooms or levels. Your friends with assigned tables will already have other guests assigned to that table if you just show up. I'd call your PVP first, otherwise, good luck with the maitre d. TEXASMUNK Posted August 16, 2018 #6 Share Posted August 16, 2018 call your PVP. link all reservations. 1. request early seating. if they does not work. go to anytime and just request table for 6. not a monster issue.
firemanbobswife Posted August 16, 2018 #7 Share Posted August 16, 2018 call your PVP. link all reservations. 1. request early seating. if they does not work. go to anytime and just request table for 6. not a monster issue. You can't just show up at the Anytime dining room if you don't have that as your assigned option. They will need to see the Maitre'D upon embarkation when they are taking requests if it's not resolved beforehand.
dwyrick68w Posted August 16, 2018 Author #8 Share Posted August 16, 2018 Thank you all for the help. Called my pvp and she said she’s keep a look out if any YTD opens up. If not we’ll go to the maitre d. She said early dining is usually pretty easy to give up as it’s requeates frequently.
Djptcp Posted August 16, 2018 #9 Share Posted August 16, 2018 In the past, before Your Time Dining which we only choose now, and we were given a dining time we didn't want because we booked late, DH went to the dining room on embarkation day and got our time changed to the one we wanted. No questions asked.
cb at sea Posted August 16, 2018 #10 Share Posted August 16, 2018 Whoever is the "odd" couple out, needs to get on the WAIT LIST for whatever dining the majority has....and then LINK your booking numbers, so they know you're all together. They will fix it...if not prior to boarding, then on boarding day. No worries. They WANT you to be happy!

SadieN Posted August 17, 2018 #12 Share Posted August 17, 2018 call your PVP. link all reservations. 1. request early seating. if they does not work. go to anytime and just request table for 6. not a monster issue. They’ll ask for all three Cabin numbers. The early diners will not allowed in. Go to MD around 1 at embarkation. Ask to be switched. If the early diners are at a two top the MD will gladly change them out. Everybody seems to want a two top these days.

Prettyinpink72 Posted August 17, 2018 #14 Share Posted August 17, 2018 A similar situation occurred with my family last December on the Magic. Three YTD and the fourth couple was assigned late dining (that couple registered for the cruise after everyone else). We didn't notice until we were on board. The couple asked for a switch the first night and were denied. They eventually ate in their assigned dining room at the assigned time that evening. My husband spoke to the Maitre'D for YTD when the remainder of the group ate that night. A nice tip resolved the situation and the couple were linked with our group for the remainder of the cruise.
