Rare Essiesmom Posted August 22, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 22, 2018 I have never had a playlist for a cruise. However, last year we fell in love with the piano bars on Carnival, and if I were to compile a playlist, it would include the most popular numbers from the piano bars, because that would remind me of our cruises. sykimball1498 Posted August 22, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 22, 2018 We have plenty as we also make cruise videos of our cruises, or should I say, my husband does. Some of the songs we have used are listed below: 1. Caribbean Queen--Billy Ocean 2. Kokomo--Beach Boys 3. Where the Boat leaves from--Zac Brown Band (this is especially good for embarkation day!) 4. Sailing--Christopher Cross 5. No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem--Kenny Chesney 6. Panama-Van Halen (for our Panama Canal cruise crossing) I can't think of the others just yet, but I know there are more. But like you said, Bob Marley and Jimmy Buffet are good choices and have many song to choose from..
evandbob Posted August 22, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 22, 2018 Dave Matthews "You and Me" lyrics: Wanna pack your bags, something small Take what you need and we'll disappear Without a trace, we'll be gone, gone The moon and the stars will follow the car And then, when we get out to the ocean We're gonna take a boat to the end of the world All the way to the end of the world [Pre-Chorus] Oh, and when the kids are old enough We're gonna teach them to fly [Chorus] You and me together We could do anything, baby You and me together, yes, yes You and me together We can do anything, baby You and me together, yes, yes

sykimball1498 Posted August 22, 2018 #6 Share Posted August 22, 2018 Totally agree on beach boys and jimmy buffet , but love Bobby Darin “beyond the sea” Yes, that is always a good one. I remembered some of the others we play: Toes by Zac Brown Band; Southern Cross by Crosby, Stills and Nash; Hot, Hot, Hot ( don't know who sings this one) and of course Come Sail Away by Styx (this is good for the sail away party. Flatbush Flyer Posted August 22, 2018 #8 Share Posted August 22, 2018 Too bad you're not going to Hawaii. But still, consider the entire album "Alone in IZ World." For the Caribbean, look at Cuban music: the entire first album of Buena Vista Social Club. Jimmy Buffett and Beach Boys music is hackneyed at best because it's been done to death. Also be adventurous and look at "island" music by the likes of Arrow or the contemporary jazz steel drum music of Andy Narell.
Bookish Angel Posted August 22, 2018 #9 Share Posted August 22, 2018 Old school reggae and ska - Peter Tosh, The Mighty Diamonds, the Abyssinians, The Skatalites, The Dualers, The Wailers. Also World Music like Johnny Clegg and Savuka, Miriam Makeba, Ladysmith Black Mambazo (South Africa) Of Men and Monsters (Iceland) The Proclaimers (Scotland) Tim Armstrong, Buckwheat Zydeco, Kenny "Blue Boss" Wayne, Leroy Thomas and the Zydeco Roadrunners (USA) and much more. No country, no Top 40, no classical for me.

Don't forget Queen Ida for Zydeco; Hapa for Hawaiian (though Iz is the king) and, for nostalgia buffs, Pablo Cruise (saw them reunited at the Sausalito Art Festival a couple of years back). Maybe the Sun Dogs?

GJClay Posted September 6, 2018 #17 Share Posted September 6, 2018 (edited) GJClay Could I beg a massive favour & request a copy of your "very long Caribbean playlist" please? It's on spotify under gladys.jean. I don't know how to share it on here but I do need to edit it, because it has become somewhat of a catch-all. I have a great 80's one on there, and others too but I don't know what kind of music you like.
