kokopelli-az Posted September 3, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2018 We will be on the Epic the end of September leaving from Barcelona. The Port of Barcelona webpage says the Epic will be at Adossat Wharf, Terminal A. Assuming this is still the case when it gets closer to embarking, is this where we tell the taxi driver to take us from our hotel? Secondly, NCL's website says boarding is at noon and to not arrive at the pier any more than an hour earlier (11:00am). Is boarding really at noon? The ship arrives at 4am so it seems they would be ready to have new passengers board prior to noon.
Rare KeithJenner Posted September 3, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 3, 2018 We have always just asked for the cruise port. The main port area, where the Epic always goes from has all the berths in a row, so they just head there. It doesn’t matter which specific berth it is docked at, as they are all in view. They may ask which ship you want. It’s not something you need to worry about. Yes, boarding starts at around midday. Usually a little while before that. The ship docks early, but the last people are usually getting off at 9-10am, which is a fairly standard time for final disembarkation. The fact that it arrives early doesn’t make much difference to this.
Rare BirdTravels Posted September 3, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 3, 2018 As you get over the bridge, there will be directional signs to the Epic drop off. While the ship arrives at 4:00 am, they have to get all of the departing passengers off and down to a zero count for Barcelona disembarkations. All ashore is 10:00-10:30. Priority embarkations will start around 11:00 with general embarkations at 11:30.
kochleffel Posted September 3, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 3, 2018 I wasn't embarking from Barcelona; I was returning to the ship after sightseeing on my own. I just hailed a taxi and gave the name of the ship.

As always Keith J is spot on the money. Boarding this year has been later and not starting until 11:30 on some sailings. The ship arrives at 5:00am not 4:00am well at least that's what the schedule for the port shows.
Linda the Book Lover Posted September 4, 2018 #6 Share Posted September 4, 2018 Barcelona was so easy. Cab to ship and disembarkation where there is a line of cabs in the port for you to hop in and tell them where you want to go. both of our cab drivers were very nice. We did tip like we do in the US for bags. https://www.numbeo.com/taxi-fare/in/Barcelona
sushraya Posted September 13, 2018 #7 Share Posted September 13, 2018 We just put in the cruise port when we ordered an uber. They had no problem finding the Epic terminal for us. We left the hotel around 12.30 and were there by 1. No lines at all - which was very surprising and we were onboard after a quick check-in. Visigoth Posted September 13, 2018 #8 Share Posted September 13, 2018 If I were you, I would be certain to get a firm price from the taxi driver before you get into his cab. We generally use Uber but on our last visit we grabbed a taxi from La Boqueria back to the ship. I asked the drive how much and he simply pointed to his meter. A trip that should have been under 10 Euros turned into a 22 Euro tour through the back streets of Barcelona. The same trip costs 6 Euros on Uber. Froggitt Posted September 13, 2018 #9 Share Posted September 13, 2018 Airport to the cruise port (and vice versa) is a standard fare by taxi, something like €40 from memory.
Kattus Posted September 13, 2018 #10 Share Posted September 13, 2018 Came on just to say our Epic embarkation was the quickest and most efficient one we've experienced in all our cruises :)
