Cold or not?

I am usually always HOT! But I am wondering if on deck watching a movie, does it get chilly? Or anywhere else that may require a jacket/sweater? We are going Oct 7 to Mexico/Belize/Roatan. Wondering about the 8 year old or the DH getting chilly, not me! :')

I run HOT too......but always pack a light jacket and light sweaters.....and find I typically use them at some point on each and every cruise. It can get cool in the main areas of ship (theatres, atrium, on deck at night etc) and especially if your family members run on the cooler side. I have always been happy that I brought something long sleeved and light to wear around the ship.

Pretty sure the main dining room and the theater serve as polar bear playgrounds when not in use. That’s the only explanation for why they keep them at such freezing cold temperatures all the time on every ship I’ve ever been on! I definitely recommend bringing a sweater or light shrug.

It depends partly on where you're sitting. We once sat at the back, closest to the automatic doors that lead to the interior of Deck 9 (or 10, depending on which ship you're on). Every time someone would go in or out of those doors, there would be a rush of cold air from the ship's AC. We eventually moved to a different spot, away from the blast of cold air.

We cruised in October last year and I used my shawl a couple of times. I am very hot natured, from Houston, and even have to have a fan to sleep every night. With that said, I am always cold in the theater, comedy club, even the casino and definitely in the dining rooms. I will usually carry a small crossbody and will tie my scarf to the side of it so that it is out of the way but there as I need it. I would definitely bring something to cover your arms.

I think MDR is so cold in part for the staff that is hustling around (don't want to see your servers perspiring if it's too warm). Also - in theory (or at least the past) - people dress up more for MDR and would need cooler than other areas.

For MDR and the theatre you are more likely to have larger crowds which could be another reason for the colder temps too. With the lights the performers are likely to be warm regardless of the temp.

I always bring a sweater or wrap, and can take it off if it happens to be warm. If it's too warm I won't enjoy the meal or show.

I've never been chilly in the Caribbean and our recent sailings have been in November, December and January. It may also depend on where you're sailing FROM as well. We sail out of NOLA and even when it's in the 40s at departure it gets up into the 60s and 70s not long after we hit the Gulf. If you leave from a more northern port it will be cooler a lot longer.

Regardless, would it really be an inconvenience to bring a sweater just in case?
