jjdmom8 Posted September 9, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2018 I will be Platinum on my cruise this week. We are traveling with another couple in a different cabin and they are no platinum. Will they be able to priority board with us? Also, isn't our cabin ready when we board since I will be platinum? Thanks in advance!

Will they be able to priority board with us? NO, if you want to board with them you could join them in the general boarding area after you receive your boarding pass. Also, isn't our cabin ready when we board since I will be platinum? YES, the cabin should be ready for you....Thanks in advance! See above. coevan Posted September 9, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 9, 2018 I would personally meet my friends at a bar on the Lido Deck. Use your priority privilege, board early, enjoy your early cabin access, put your stuff away and have them call you when they board.
txmom11 Posted September 9, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 9, 2018 To be kind, you could put their carryons in your cabin once they board. Don't bring them to your cabin, but just put the bags in there so they don't have to lug them around.
Lottacruises Posted September 10, 2018 #5 Share Posted September 10, 2018 You're going to see each other the whole trip. You don't need to walk hand in hand through the terminal and on to the ship. And why hassle yourself with their luggage? If they don't want to hassle with it send it with the porters.

I wouldn't see it as a hassle--it takes 10 minutes, and I have a whole week to enjoy myself. It does depend on the friends though. I only cruise with really good friends. SNJCruisers Posted September 10, 2018 #7 Share Posted September 10, 2018 Assuming that you're going to take full advantage of your benefits, have a leisurely lunch at the venue of your choice before the mad rush comes on board On our recent Horizon cruise, we were in Jiji's 20 minutes before they opened and were the first served our Mongolian Work entrees. After lunch, pick a bar to meet your friends at. It would be a waste to have to wait around 90 minutes or so just to eat with them.
PhillyFan33579 Posted September 10, 2018 #8 Share Posted September 10, 2018 If they are good friends, I would wait and board the ship with them. If they are more acquaintances than friends, I would arrange a location to meet them on the ship.
dmdiver Posted September 10, 2018 #9 Share Posted September 10, 2018 We had the same situation last cruise. We planned to just wait with our friends so we could have our welcome aboard photo together. However, check-in was so fast that we never waited anywhere. It was probably close to 12:30. We (all of us) just took all the luggage to our cabin & went to lunch. By the time we finished & went back to our cabin, theirs was ready.
Bostwick girl Posted September 10, 2018 #10 Share Posted September 10, 2018 In the past, platinum guests were allowed to have one couple board with them so we were always boarding with them. The rules changed as we reached platinum so was lucky with that! These days boarding is much faster with the assigned checking times, so your friends won't have to wait too long. Quilcruisers Posted September 11, 2018 #12 Share Posted September 11, 2018 I agree , they will not be able to board priority with you unless they are in the same cabin. What we have done in the past is waited to board together with the rest of our party. This last cruise, we were in the plat boarding but the family was moving through the lines right as we were. We met up on board and we always take their sodas and any carryon bags to our cabin and then go have lunch . I don’t like to leave people, especially if it’s new cruisers, I like to see their face when they walk on to the ship. That alone is enough for me to hang back a bit and wait with them or if it’s too much of a gap, I offer to take some of their items off their hands. xDisconnections Posted September 11, 2018 #13 Share Posted September 11, 2018 Why do you think your priority boarding privilege should be extended to someone that didn’t earn it?
