rkacruiser Posted September 21, 2018 #40 Share Posted September 21, 2018 When there is open dock space, as there is today, I have never understood why a ship is not docked at that spot. It is closer to the city's center.
atexsix Posted September 22, 2018 #41 Share Posted September 22, 2018 Volendam is making her last visit of the season to Juneau before heading south and doing a few months of Panama Canal cruises. She will be at the CT dock from 1300-2200. She is the only ship in port. Another beautiful day before the beginning of a wet week in Juneau. There is a 0% chance of rain with a high of 63F/17C and a low of 36F/2C. Sunrise is at 6:40 am and sunset at 6:59 pm. The PTZtv webcam can be found at http://www.juneauharborwebcam.com/. Next up: The Signature Sisters last visit for 2018 on Monday. Can't wait until Monday, have been following Eurodam on vessel tracker for a month, since I will be on her as she leaves Seattle for the last time this year. By the way, this will probably be one of those SMH answers but what's a "sail in"? Is it watching a ship come in? I watched the Euro sail out a couple of times this summer, but it's agony so I try not to do it.
Rare Scrapnana Posted September 22, 2018 Author #42 Share Posted September 22, 2018 She is leaving a bit early. Sounds like people are celebrating Friday night at Hangar on the Wharf.

For Alaska - it is sail-ins -watching the ships arrive - plus being able to track them on AIS map - we tend to know their routine. Sailaways are too late at night for most of the regulars - so sail-ins are the normal watching activity. Eurodam tends to show up in the harbor just before 12 pm AST/4 pm EDT and spends 35-45 minutes docking in front of camera. Zooms from webcam person are always appreciated.
