More Carnival Fascination Questions

Is it worth it to get FTTF on my Carnival Fascination cruise for December 9. I currently have a 1PM check in time and wasn't sure when everything is usually ready since the ship leaves at night? For those who cruised on the ship without it, how early were your rooms ready when you boarded and when were your items dropped off to your room? What days are typically reserved for elegant nights?

It’s the same as with other ships. Boarding begins at roughly 11:30, and rooms for those without FTTF, Platinum or Diamond status are ready at 1:30 pm. The only thing difference about San Juan is that because you leave so late and some people choose to board late because of it, dinner the first night is opening seating for everyone, and you can choose to go to either dining room.

Elegant nights are Tuesday and Thursday night. Faster to the fun isn’t worth it IMO... we checked in at noon, walked right on, had a Guy’s burger, dropped our wine at the room and to the forts.

Were you able to buy your wine in San Juan? We are coming from Canada and don't want to bring it from here.

From what I remember in San Juan, there is a CVS by the cruise port. You can purchase some wine. I think I might grab some wine there depending on the selection. If not, I work in a wine a story and will bring my own.

We just disembarked from the Fascination last Sunday. There are a Walgreens and a CVS to the left as you are leaving the ship. Hubby and I did price and selection comparisons of the wine offered by both. Selection was about the same but CVS prices were better.

San Juan has the metal detector placed AFTER you check in...so, there is no way to know if you are boarding for the first time, or if you have boarded, exited and made your purchase.

So, in March we boarded - dropped our bags in our room, grabbed a bite to eat, and then headed back ashore. We had flown in that morning so we went to the drug store and grabbed 2 bottles of wine, DH man spray, bug spray, etc.that we could not fly with as we carry on. It wasn't a nice day in San Juan and had started to rain, so we returned to the ship. We have been before - but had we not and the weather cooperated, it would be very easy to explore both forts, the wall and walk the town before needing to re-board for dinner.

Yes! Walgreen’s and CVS are both right across from the port. CVS had a better selection as far as we were concerned. We take Korbel blush. They didn’t have any Korbels at Walgreens.

I thought I would check out this posting, as we are doing the Fascination the end of March next year. We are doing a late fly in, so probably by the time we reach the ship, most people will have already been on board, or been on board and left the ship for a while. San Juan is nice, but I have seen it in the daytime, as well as nighttime, which is really the prettiest to me. Someone mentioned about rain when they came in and not seeing the forts. There were 8 of us that went "inside", the forts. It was very warm, and rained some, but it wasn't that bad that we couldn't stay somewhere in the fort from the rain. With it being very warm, we dried off fast!:)

We are staying on deck 6. If you know, what is the best way to get to the dining rooms, hoping to "avoid" the casino area because of the smoke?

We were on Deck 6 and we had My Time Dining in the Sensation Dining Room. We too avoided the smoky casino. Just walk down deck 6 hallways to the front stair well and take the stairs to deck 8 and walk around the atrium (lobby) to the restaurant. If you are eating at the Imagination Dining Room, use the same process but use the rear stairwell. Our problem was we usually headed to the Punchliner Comedy Club after dinner and the best way to get there was around the casino. For Imagination Dining Room this is not an issue because the comedy club is directly above it. Check out the deck maps if I confused you.
